Character arc's that you would like to see with the Enterprise crew.

Just for fun how would you like to see these characters grow and change and in essence become different from the versions we are familiar with. A few things I think would be intresting.

1 Kirk=Dies a early death. Perhaps have him come back sort of like orignal Spock with a new perspective on life. Kind of like the idea of him eventually finding a passion away from Starfleet.

2 Spock=Becomes more human. Even embraces emotions. Have the destruction of Vulcan be almost freeing.

3 McCoy=We find out he is gay. Eventually finds love with a vulcan male. Becomes ambassador to New Vulcan

4 Uhura=Switches career path for that of command. We see her eventually get a ship of her own.

5 Chekov=Dies a early death. Eventually becomes the new voice for the Starfleet computers.

6 Scotty=He is so different from the orginal Scotty i would like him evolve into that type of Scotty.

7 Sulu=Travels forward in time. We get our first glimpse of the Abramsverse 24th century through his eyes, which is where he will make a new life for himself.

1. No
2. Nooooooooooo
3. Yes, if it's done well.
4. Definitely yes
5. No!
6. Sure
7. No time travel yet please. Though I'd like to see this alternate timeline's 24 century eventually. Could be interesting.

Re: Character arc's that you would like to see with the Enterprise cre

The movie hinted at a side of Starfleet we don't often see. Science in Trek so far has been "You found a thing! Study it and/or hit it with a phaser! Find another thing!" with few nods to the academic aspect of science. Now we get an offhand reference to Bad Ass Motherfucker Christopher Pike writing a dissertation... I've got visions dancing in my head of this guy running around shooting his way through hostile aliens on his way to his defense.

I want to hear about Uhura publishing groundbreaking papers in linguistics and having her name enter the ranks of Panini, Saussure, Sapir, and Chomsky (etc.)! If badasses like Pike are expected to Publish Or Perish, then maybe we're looking at a Starfleet that demands real, meaty research from all of its officers.

I just know someone's going to dogpile on me for wanting Trek to become boring, but I'm not looking for academic procedural drama (bad enough that I have to live through it IRL)... just some background detail about how pretty much everyone in Starfleet is a scientist of one variety or another, doing Real Science.

Id really like to see how they handle Sulu. It would be cool seeing him develop into a captain over time

I like #4 a lot.

In the novelization, Sulu says he has a doctorate in astrophysics.

Which is a nice little reference, since in the 2nd pilot, "Where No Man Has Gone Before", Sulu was an astrophysicist rather than helmsman.
