The lounge on Discovery has a fire burning too.
Just reading a TMP/TWOK era novel and got to wondering... If Chapel is featured in various Star Trek novels, it is usually peripheral to McCoy and tends to be quite a dry, humourless, almost cameo appearance. SNW era novels aside, I wonder if some of Jess Bush's portrayal, with more humour and a wider scientific base, will start bleed through into portrayals of her older self?
Fingers crossed! I am struggling to think of a story where Chapel features significantly: Ex Machina perhaps? It's not as if the humour and snappy talk wasn't there in TOS, just too briefly to register with most writers it seems.I hope so! Her version of Chapel is an actual character instead of a cardboard cutout. It would be good to see that work reflected by reconceptualizing the character when depicted in TOS contexts.
Well, maybe she can work on the Baby Gorn DNA. She's working on a Masters or is about to work on a PhD so she can go down to some ancient civilization, maybe with Roger and get some stuff done. Maybe she and Roger meet on Enterprise. She could meet an old colleague and that's a story. Anything Mccoy or Crusher got involved in she could as well.Fingers crossed!
