Channel 4 has acquired the UK terrestrial rights to True Blood and Generation Kill from HBO.
True Blood - from Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball - is a drama about vampires who rely on synthetic blood rather than humans to satisfy their urges.
Generation Kill is a seven-part drama miniseries documenting the first 40 days of the Iraq war through the eyes of a group of young marines. The show is currently airing on FX.
"We are thrilled to bring more fresh, imaginative and bold US drama to Channel 4 audiences," said Gill Hay, C4's head of acquisitions. "True Blood and Generation Kill are examples of HBO programming at its thought-provoking and challenging best."
Both series will air on Channel 4 later in 2009.
How did True Blood turn out? I saw the first episode or two and it kinda seemed a bit try hard, I might check it out again when it airs over here though.
