Challenge for all atheists

I'm afraid what you're saying isn't true. Even Elvis Presley sang it in one of his songs Kissin' Cousins. He sings, "Yeah we're all cousins. That's what I believe, 'Cause we're all children, Of Adam and Eve."

And who are we to question the eternal wisdom and knowledge of the King of Rock 'n Roll?!

You're not putting enough faith in the capabilities of God.

And you're not putting enough faith in the capabilities of Spder-Man. Or science, for that matter.

With all due respect, you sound as bad as the Muslims who say that the one who God said He would send would reveal things to them in the New Testament has to be Muhammed and not the Holy Spirit because they don't have enough faith to believe that God could've had foretold what would happen in advance.

:wtf:

I looked back in the account of Lot. According to that, his daughters were the once who had sex with him and got pregnant; and he didn't even know it because he was asleep. For all I know, he might've thought he was having a wet dream or something. They did it because they had lost their husbands, and they needed someone to carry on the family line as it was their custom. It's in Genesis 30.
God bless, Jason Irelan

You found references to incest in the bible. What a stroke of luck!

With all due respect

You keep including that phrase, and then continue with irrational and fairly insulting posts.

There's nothing respectful in anything you've posted; the entire thread is completely disrespectful to anyone who doesn't share your same belief system--that's what it is, by the way: a belief, not a fact. Even the title itself says you're "challenging" non-religious people.

I wonder if I posted a thread, calling out all religious people and mocking them, would be taken quite as lightly as this one? I rather doubt it.

You started a thread to challenge the beliefs of atheists, then complain when they don't have enough faith in God? Nice logic. Honestly, what were you expecting?

No more needs to be said. "Due respect" for someone else's position means you're willing to acknowledge their point of view. It doesn't mean ignoring their point of view and assuming that they must share yours — because they're your views and therefore everyone must share them because how else could it be? You're not offering respect at all.

If you want to "challenge" someone, you need to consider what that really means. Right now you're not challenging, you're lecturing — and the only thing you're backing up your lectures with is your own assumptions.

Yes, but I finished it quickly.

Can't he just, y'know, lean his neck over the walls to reach the tree?

Here's a novel idea.

People should be free to believe or not believe in what ever religion they like.

Isn't the problem when people try and force their beliefs or non-beliefs onto others?

But there's a fairy who wants to stick a pineapple up my bottom, once a day, for the next billion billion years, if we get this wrong.

So...if Elvis says it, it must therefore be true?

Cambridge dictionary:- Atheist: (noun) someone who believes that god does not exist.

So it's pretty clear why many of us aren't putting faith in god.

No, because the giraffe is two dimensional. You must exercise proper two dimensional thinking.

I'm not an atheist but I fail to see why they need to be 'challenged' about this or anything else. A philosophical discussion maybe but this?

For the record, I grew up in a particular religious sect where stories like this ran rampant. They may be true, they may be urban legends. I just know they started to sound like ghost stories. "This happened to my cousin's best friend's uncle' type of things. Everything was evil. I remember hearing someone saying they went to see Lord of the Rings and could 'feel the evil coming out of the screen.' I said I got the same feeling listening to those 1980s' fake metal hair bands.

The book of Revelation is about the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. The Anti-Christ is Nero. It was written in apocalyptic language as a sort of code to the young persecuted Christian church. Now there are Christians who believe it is prophetic and speaks of future events and they are free to do so. I just don't happen to think that's what it's about.

Really, I have my own opinion which doesn't need to be identified, but I have noticed that there is a new religion around, a new group of people who impose their views on others - almost any time and any place.

They are not the catholics or the muslims, or the born again Christians or even the atheists, - they've all been around since Adam was a boy (to use a popular expression) - but rather a very zealous, devout group who I think are a very vocal are not confined to a sense of time or place to try and convert others to their way of thinking. I have no wish to be converted by a group who is so forceful. No they are not the Buddhists or the Mormons or another of the more common religions. They are a new group altogether- the 'born again atheists' as opposed to the milder atheists of the past.

This, and other forums or theological discussion groups is the correct forum for you to say what you believe in. I just don't want to have anyone's religious views imposed on me when I'm going about my daily business unless it's part of a forum and I choose to do so. Then I'm happy to read all points of view. As with all religions there is a time and a place to put your views forward but really, unless I enter a theological discussion or research group, I'd rather my day isn't interrupted by any unsought religious opinions. Peace be with you whatever your beliefs.

Sorry Stardream, somehow I inadvertently seem to have changed your post to my name. This was unintentional and I'm sure I couldn't do it again if I tried. My name appears two posts back on an opinion written by Stardream. I have only written one post and I'm new to this sort of discussion. Sincere apologies from Bluewhale

:wtf: Just for the record, "Elvis Presley songs" does not equal "scientific proof" either.

You're not putting enough faith in the capabilities of God.

That is one of the defining characteristics of atheism, yes.

I'm not even sure what you're saying here, but it sounds rather intolerant. Isn't one of the tenets of your faith to love thy neighbour?

No offense, but your Bible has some weird stuff in it.

Dad murdered/chased off all the men that looked at his daughters.

The girls were baby mad.

Dad, wouldn't even allow marriage.

It was an elegant way to stop dad from murdering their baby daddies.
