Challenge for all atheists

Part of me thinks the OP might have been a troll because while he (or she) spoke the language it was close enough...but a bit off. I honestly thought it was someone who just wanted to stir up trouble.

It would be nice to think so, but by going by his posting pattern since joining up in Trek Lit, it doesn't look that way.

Maybe she (or he) is young. I'll give them a break. Infinite variety and all that....

Going by some seasoned posters, I don't think that's true as he hung out on the now defunct PsiPsi message boards a decade plus ago.

@5billionof5billion, would you give Lucifer a chance? You've said all of these horrible things against her, but haven't really heard her out.
When donkeys fly, I'll think about it; and being in a plane that flies doesn't count. In all fairness, however, I did give him the benefit of the doubt by questioning whether or not God had warned him about what was going to happen; and I was told that God probably did; but the Bible doesn't say.

As far as asking for the girl's permission to give out her name goes, this was like in the late 80's so she might not even have the same last name anymore. She was an attractive girl, and she probably got married. Also, if relating her story meant making believers out of people who say that God's not real, then I don't see how she could mind. If her dad's still working as an evangelist, you can ask him about her. I believe they might have the same first name, except he's got the masculine version that ends with a y.

As far as judging people who say there is no God goes, if I could be the judge of all the atheists, I'd give them an easy break; but it's like I read on a bumper sticker. If you're living like there is no God, you'd better be right.

As far as demons being trapped in Ouija boards goes, they're not really trapped because I've already read that they operate by an idiomatic motor, which means thought guided; but that's how the devil works. He works at us through our thoughts.

Finally, I once experienced God giving me a peace first hand. I remember having trouble sleeping one night and feeling tempted; and I didn't say it out loud; but I said in the name of Jesus, go away from me Satan; and I felt instant peace just like that.

Ouija Boards are a parlour game that people coopted into being occult in some way, which it never was and remains mostly for amusement.

Like those ghost hunter programs were they kick each other under the table to create suspence while using one. I mean you can still see one of the stage hands throwing something in the background, but it's all in good fun.

I remember having trouble sleeping one night and feeling tempted;

Tempted to what? Because if it's what I think it could be, there is no shame in that, it's even better with someone else.

So Jason, are you ok with all the shit that happens in the name of your mythical sky being?

I'm not an atheist but I fail to see why they need to be 'challenged' about this or anything else. A philosophical discussion maybe but this?

For the record, I grew up in a particular religious sect where stories like this ran rampant. They may be true, they may be urban legends. I just know they started to sound like ghost stories. "This happened to my cousin's best friend's uncle' type of things. Everything was evil. I remember hearing someone saying they went to see Lord of the Rings and could 'feel the evil coming out of the screen.' I said I got the same feeling listening to those 1980s' fake metal hair bands.

The book of Revelation is about the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70. The Anti-Christ is Nero. It was written in apocalyptic language as a sort of code to the young persecuted Christian church. Now there are Christians who believe it is prophetic and speaks of future events and they are free to do so. I just don't happen to think that's what it's about.

If the book of Revelation is about the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70, then how do you explain some of the events that were recorded but haven't happened yet? First off there's the two witnesses who are able to spew fire out of there mouths against anyone who tries to harm them and do other things like stop it from raining and cause drought and famine. Secondly, there's a beast that's supposed to show up with seven heads that would be interesting to see as a kaiju fan, but not interesting to worship. Finally, the mark of the beast that people need to sell and buy things hasn't arrived. Matthew is the book that's about the fall of Jerusalem in AD 70.

I'm going to assume this part was for me, and the rest was for everyone else, since this is what I was asking. @5billionof5billion, when I was in my late teens and early 20s, I was an Evangelical Christian minister. I knew the Bible front to back, had read multiple translations, had friends who were scholars of the Biblical texts, real scholars not just people who got a certificate from a Bible college, and I could talk to you about God and Jesus all day in such glowing terms. I had many people who followed my sermons, and listened to me preach on the Gospels. It all felt just as real.

A feeling does not denote authenticity. You can feel anything, depending upon your disposition and willingness to believe. You are warned to watch your feelings, and to keep in mind that feeling a certain way does not necessarily mean it's from God. If you go by feelings, you can easily fall into the trap of self-delusion.

I suggest you pick up a copy of the historical writings of the Jewish historian Josephus. He was there. It's amazing how some of the descriptions in Revelations dovetails with what he saw.

I know atheists say that the miracles in the Bible couldn't have happened like when Moses crossed the Red Sea. However, there has been archaeological proof that such an event did happened because they found chariots in the middle of the Red Sea.

So if I find a '56 Buick in the middle of the Ohio River, that means a miracle happened?

No because cars are only as competent as the driver, and it would mean nothing more than someone having an unfortunate accident.
Horse driven chariots are a totally different story because a horse wouldn't go into a sea and drown on their own volition if they were being driven no matter how bad the driver wanted to.
