Challenge for all atheists

There's no official English language version of the "Känguru-Chroniken" (engl:: The Kangaroo Chronicles) by German satirist Marc-Uwe Kling, so I tried to do an adequate translation of a text passage I found to fit in well in this thread:

"For ages fantasy has been the most popular of all genres. Fantasy authors of the second big craze, like John, Luke, Marc, and Mel Gibson, for example, have fanatic followers to this day, who memorised whole passages and meet regularly for conventions in medieval buildings to read their favorite parts to each other, and reenact absurd rituals from the books. What a buch of nerds."
I have always found 'A Piece of the Action' with it's Book of Chicago mobs shaping an alien planet to be a satire of aliens coming to Earth and trying to make sense of a culture that would base its way of life on the ramblings of an thousands year dead iron age itinerant carpenter and a slew of cobbled together regional myths and folk tales.

I always thought it would have been a funnier episode if the ship had left behind the Chief Engineer's pr0n collection.

Maybe we can save that for the pay-only show...

A lively game of Hungry Hungry Hippos between believers and nonbelievers struggling to collect marbles that represent either the saved souls or enlightened minds of mankind?

Faceplant (and cell phones in general) beats them both. Jesus phones for the win.

Mormons on the road and Skeptic magicians are no match for morons posting their food.

So has anyone taken the Ouija board challenge?

Yep! Gluing magnets to the planchette's feet as we speak.

What I posted was public records, not personal information, just in case anyone was wondering.

Anyhow, the claim against Ouija boards is not that they are made with a demon inside them but that the design of them, in effect, is like the key to opening up a doorway to other realms. We have one and it does absolutely nothing. Your results may vary.

Just thought some clarification was needed.

You're still not allowed to drag other posters information onto the board to attack them, it's in the rules of the site, so I'd really not try to push the issue and get another warning.

as it stands, I am partially convinced, but I also believe - due to subjective proofs of my own - that I know things about Him that most of His modern followers don't

You have the inside scoop on the Almighty? I must admit, I am dying of curiosity. Although I do fully understand that this may be something that is too personal for you to share on a public message board.

Notice how it's always some obscure subjective "truth" that can never, ever, be verified, described or communicated even in the simplest manner.

I bet even Jesus was like that. "No, seriously guys, I like totally talked to my dad, who was also me!"

Oh look, this thread is still going.
OP was still participating, it hadn't gotten out of control except for the incident yesterday, political and controversial discussions are allowed in Miscellaneous no matter how many times people incorrectly think otherwise, and if I had shut it down it would have been spun as the big mean atheist closing down religious freedom of speech. I was considering closing it since it had been pretty much played out, but I wanted to give the OP one more chance for a "rebuttal," such as it is, before doing so. But since he's not been back, I think I'll close it soon.

You know full well what I mean by "personal information," so don't go all SlickyWillie pedantic on me, TrickyDickie.

It doesn't matter if the information is in the public sphere and that he made it very easy to track it down by sharing his full name and birthdate here. If people wish to look it up on there own time, that's their business, but posting it here on the board is forbidden. My taking action against you for that is not any kind of endorsement of his behavior or saying you're a bad person, it's merely enforcing the rules and preventing any such future incidents.

For every factually correct incident of doxxing in the name of helping to inform others, there are plenty more where internet vigilantes get their information wrong and cause harm with their collateral damage (see Reddit and other sites after the Boston Marathon bombing), or where they don't know the full story and destroy someone's reputation unfairly. I'm not suggesting that's what happened here, but that's the danger when you start letting this stuff happen unchecked.

Yes, everyone except the OP is fully aware of how ignorant people think an Ouija Board works. He's the only one who literally thought the 1890s parlor game was inhabited by demons.

There is an example right there: "SlickyWillie"....many people know that refers to Bill Clinton because of that "definition of what 'is' is" business, etc. What if Clinton were a poster on this board? Or Dennis Hastert, or whomever? All I'm saying is, hold everyone to the same fair standard. If public record info can be posted about celebrities, and it's called 'news', the same should be able to be done in the case of anyone. There is nothing pedantic about it at all.

So, I was preparing to respond to your lengthy PM, but I might as well not bother since you're just airing it all here despite the "Comments to PM" portion of my post.

You're not an investigative journalist or a private detective hired by the board, and 5Bof5B is not a public servant expected to uphold a higher standard. You're both just two posters on a message board, so saying he should be held to the same "fair standard" as the President or the Speaker of the House is itself an unfair standard.

Nothing about 5Bof5B poses any threat or danger to anyone here beyond being annoyed by his preachifying, which is all that had happened to you when you decided to cross the line and go all Nancy Drew in retaliation. If you felt he posed a danger, you should have forwarded the information to the staff instead of posting it here.

The pedantic part of your post was when you were trying to say it wasn't personal information about him just because it was in the public record. You knew exactly what I was saying and were trying to give a smartass reply instead of just following the instructions.

I get the feeling that you're just trying to find a roundabout way to hint at the information about him again anyway, so we're done here and I will close the thread after all. Since I've addressed the issue here, I won't be replying to your PM too. If you've got a problem with my decision, you have my permission to take it up in MA.
