So, I went to my first live CFL game on Saturday - which the Als won, against the Argos. Argos are officially out of the playoffs, and the Als had already clinched the East anyway.

Funny thing - at the end of the match, people were allowed go onto the fake-grass pitch and meet and greet players etc... and it turns out the Argos' mascot is called Jason.

So, naturally, I suggested to an Argo rep beside 'Jason' that if he ever meets and falls for a woman called Medea, that he never ever cheat on her!

The rep didn't know what I was talking about, though. Sigh.


Also, they closed the roof of the Rogers Centre midway through the match - a marvel of engineering, which I watched unfold... yet more people were busy watching some dog show at HT. Double sigh.


And the game was, well...

...I guess I'd like it better if I went with someone who knew what was going on, and could help me get up to speed.


(I did like how the away Als fans were more like a soccer crowd, in terms of performing their own chants and cheers - without having to rely on the PA system to goad them!)

So, this means that the Lions will go to Regina in the West semi-final, while Edmonton cross into the East and fly to Winnipeg to take on the Blue Bombers in their semi.



The winner of the BC-Saskatchewan match will them go to Calgary for the West final, while the Alouettes host their fellow finalists in Montréal.


And then, on to the Grey Cup at the Big O!

The Grey Cup contestants are set - Montréal will take on Calgary at Olympic Stadium, and on the same day as the MLS Cup final, as it happens.


And funnily enough, Calgary are set to host the Grey Cup next year...

My interest in football has petered out in recent years, but I watched Calgary/Edmonton last weekend, and it was a hell of a game til the dying seconds.

I am much more inclined to watch the final this year now that Calgary is there. :thumbsup:
