Cell Phone/computer???

Anyone know how to send a file (Ring tone) from the computer to a cell phone?
I can send a pict from my cell to my e-mail, but how do I do it the other way around?

What specific phone and what computer with what OS do you have?

Often it works via Bluetooth and the Bluetooth File Exchange function (in Mac OS X with a Sony or Motorola phone).

Samsung phone
I did send an short video from my phone to my e-mail, but I want to send a ring tone from my CPU to my phone?
Vista not sure about the phone.

So does your PC have Bluetooth, along with your phone?

Did some kind of USB cable come with it, for you to connect the phone to your PC and do whatever Samsung permitted you to do?

Have you used the search engine of your choice yet to search for something like this: Samsung F 451 (F 451 as model number, yours may vary) copy .mp3 to from Windows?

Btw, I can't help you any further with setting up Bluetooth devices in Windows, I have never done that in Windows and I only use it once per month for three to ten minutes, if I have to. Maybe www.anandtech.com can help you.

I've used tonethis with some success in the past. There's no physical connection needed between computer and phone.

It also allows you to edit the music clip.

Or here's a big list.

Major phone companies have ways to turn your phone number into an email address, so that you could email the file to your phone as an attachment. For example, the email address for Verizon service would be:
your10digitnumber@vtext.com

Here is a blog that lists some of the numbers for other major companies. You can also just search on Google.

It depends somewhat on your carrier. Verizon, for example, usually locks their phones down so that the only way to do it is through their network--you can't send it directly to the phone from the computer. AT&T usually doesn't, so many phones can be connected directly to the computer via USB or Bluetooth and it can be transferred that way. I only know the details of how to do it with my phone, but I know it's possible with others. A little quality time with Google should get you the details for your phone.

Wow Thanks for the info. I tried sending a picture to from my phone, if it comne through I'll try and reply and send it that way? as an attachment??

I've sent several pics and ringtones to my phone. For the ringtones, you may have to adjust the quality of it. 64kbps and 16,000hz is what works for me. There may also be two addresses, 1234567890@txt.att.net and 1234567890@mms.att.net, the txt one will only accept text messages while the mms will accept text and multi media messages. To check yours, send a text message and a picture, video or audio message to your email. To send the ringtone or picture, you would send it as an attachment.
