Celebrity Cameos in Trek

Are you sure that was Kelsey Grammer? I always thought it was Michael Dorn (the admiral hailed both the Defiant and the Bozeman in that scene, so it could have been either Worf or Bateson)...besides, why would someone as famous as Grammer only contribute one word ("Acknowledged") to a film like this?
I'm pretty sure the line is "Bozeman acknowledged." As for why someone of his stature would do something like this, he is a fan, he probably thought it would be a fun thing to do.

Madge Sinclair as the Saratoga captain in Star Trek IV. Sinclair, who was well known to audiences from Roots and Trapper John, M.D. went uncredited for her performance, whereas Weidlin and Amritraj were both listed in the end credits for their respective roles.

She later went on to play Geordi's mother in TNG Interface.

Steven Weber in The Circle Trilogy. Like his character was prominent enough that you went, "Hey, it's the brother from Wings", but he seemed like his character should have had more lines.

Actually, for the new series I hope the producers would consider casting some well known genre stars.Guest roles specifically.
Sci-fi can become a typecasting trap so it would be nice if Trek made somewhat of a virtue of this and cast people from the genre.
You might call it stunt casting or fan pleasing but equally you could call it paying some dues.
Maybe it deserves a thread of it's own but are there any genre faces you would like to see get a Trek credit?

I don't know if these count and are probably well known already, but there's a lot of production crew cameos in What You Leave Behind and These Are The Voyages, and a couple in First Contact.

Because he was asked? After didn't Frank Langella asked to go uncredit for his appearences in DSN's The Circle trilogy?

Sometimes an actor will do something for a variety of reasons other than money or fame.

This I think. On this topic, I've often wondered "just another acting gig or an I've always wanted to be on Star Trek moment".

I'll add one of my favorite actors from 70s American television, Gregory Sierra, probably best known for his work as a regular in Sanford & Sons and Barney Miller before moving onto mostly guest-star or recurring roles, he's had a very successful career. Played a Cardassian in DS9

I'd discount him just because Mark Sheppard's been in everything from X Files to BSG to Sliders and everything inbetween :p
Also, his Voyager appearance was before he had the fame he has today, mostly from all the genre appearances he's made since being on Voyager.

And just to make it clear: The Mark Sheppard who played Icheb's father / Romo Lampkin / Canton Everett Delaware III / etc. is NOT the same as Mark Shepherd who played Morn.

The Mark A. Sheppard who played Icheb's father Leucon in "Child's Play" was fully credited and extensive role. Sheppard was a guest star. It wasn't a cameo.

Country rock guitarist Jeff Cook, a friend of Shatner's, is an uncredited extra in STAR TREK V, in the attack on Nimbus III scene.

Also Mark Sheppard, as in Icheb's dad, Romo Lampkin and Canton Everett Delaware III is the real life son of W Morgan Sheppard, a frequent Trek guest star who's played Dr. Ira Graves on TNG, the Klingon warden in TUC, the alien Ahab on Voyager and a Vulcan in Trek XI. W Morgan Sheppard even played an older version of Mark Sheppard's Canton Everett Delaware III on Doctor Who.

Side note: I totally believe Canton is a future regeneration of River Song... (Canton = song, Delaware = river, i.e. the Delaware River)

You know whenever you see those posts on Facebook "Ten Things You Never Knew About STAR TREK!!!" and it's filled with things that you already know and have done for years?

This is the opposite. I had no idea there was a family connection between the two. This pleases me. Gold star to you!
