CBS promos - Star Trek symbol

Level 2 Diagnostic

Captain
Captain
All tonight (12/1), CBS's promos of their shows' upcoming episodes have been including a split-second flash of the Star Trek "arrowhead" symbol, which you can see an example of if you watch the video link below. Is there a deeper meaning here, or is this just subliminal promotion for the upcoming Picard show?

Probably the beginning of a larger promotional campaign. MeTV did something similar when they were getting The Flintstones. Before making any actual announcement, they started showing little flashes of the characters during their promos for other shows, so you knew something was up.

I think they've been flashing the Starfleet insignia on all of their promos since Thanksgiving. Maybe they will be announcing that the first episode of Picard will be on the main CBS networks? (just like Discovery)

I was surprised when I saw this last night. I first noticed it during the promo for next week's Young Sheldon, but just assumed it was because of Young Sheldon's Star Trek connections. I was really surprised when it popped up in the promos for The Unicorn and Evil too. What's weird is that it's just popping up with no context whatsoever. Not a coming soon, or date or something like that. It's just the symbol in the middle of the screen.

I've noticed it as well, on all CBS shows since about Thanksgiving. I too thought it was odd that there was no message or context associated with it, just the symbol very briefly. Obviously Trek fans will already know what it means, but they probably already know about the coming series' and don't require much reminding. Non Trek fans probably don't know what the symbol is and maybe don't even notice it. So what's the point?

I think they will start ramping it up in the coming weeks. Not sure how, but it will be cool to catch it. It was constant on the NFL games I watched yesterday. I am thinking the spots will switch to showing Patrick Stewart's face or a full title, or both.

It is there probably to flash the new Picard series, given TNG's place in pop culture and impending sequel. Interesting way to promote it.

It's like those alleged subliminal adverts from movie theaters in the 1950s that led to people being hungry for popcorn and fizzy tooth-rottin' soda pop.Except I am unaware of anybody asking to devour a side of Picard with a soft drink and side order of French Fries.

At least they're not doing what was done for Gabbo...

I think it's a subtle attempt to tie Star Trek and CBS together in the public's mind, much in the same way that NBC is airing ads with a peacock who loves comedy to keep the association between "Peacock" and NBC for their streaming service.

Nothing compared to Max Headroom:

That's like "The Prisoner" on crack. Never really saw "Max Headroom", apart from that very special episode that aired on PBS, interrupting

(On my edit: --my bad, sorry!)

one of the most boring of all episodes with fly swatter, what were they thinking... I mean, they were one day too early, airing it on November 23rd would have been exactly the 24th anniversary date for the show since its first airing...

Methinks it's time to look for that show... "Max Headroom", that is, not the PBS Special Edition Extended Version...

It's pretty tame, but in deference to board policy, no videos of bare asses.

There were two versions (The clip I posted is from the 1984 British TV-movie. ABC made a series that lasted for two seasons. The DVD's for the ABC series are now on Amazon. :) )

I was at my local O'Charley's (my go-to place for food and social interaction LOL) on Friday night, and I noticed the Starfleet logo at the end of several CBS commercials. I thought I was going crazy, seeing things that weren't there, because no one else saw it. Thank goodness so many people on here noticed! Now this does beg the question that has already been asked on here...

What does it mean?

I didn't even know this was a thing. (I don't come in this forum very often.) But the Vikes were on CBS today, and I noticed it during a commercial and thought it was my imagination.
