No. They had not even started shooting when the lawsuit fell (except for the "Vulcan scene" teaser), and didn't do any shooting thereafter, just funded their studio instead with the money they had not already spent. Which as the case revealed, wasn't as of a day before the lawsuit arrival still enough to even shoot 'part 1 of 3' of the film. They apparently had done a fair amount of CGI. The set wasn't near ready, and although they claimed to have a 'locked' script they said in court it wasn't anywhere near even being a script, at least not anywhere near being finalized.

He's migrating to other pastures these days, anyway. I was a member of The Orville fan group (this one: https://www.facebook.com/groups/421852604874647/?ref=br_rs). This morning, I woke up to find out Alec had joined, and they had made him an Admin. I've since left, because I don't want him attempting to ruin something else I love.
Well, it's never too late to leave.
The Adminlist is the Who Is Who of Axastoogery: Peters, Krapp and Reece. It can't get worse than that.
In another part of that "blog" he admits, he's an Axanaerd. So there's that.
I wouldn't put it past that huckster to try to make the Orville-verse version of Axanar.
Who on earth would let Alec be an admin of their fan discussions, given the abuse he has showered on his own donors in their fan discussions of his own project?
The war against 9 year old 50 year olds on the internet. The whole planet could about get behind that these days.

See, I didn't know about Krapp or Reece. When I joined, The Orville fan club had just a few hundred members. I don't want to be around "Axanerds" like that.Well, it's never too late to leave.

That's what worries me. When I joined the group, there were a few hundred folks. Now there's over 9,000 (zing) and for someone like Alec, that's a golden opportunity.
According to @wtriker1701, and several others, they're Axanerds, so they probably pissed themselves at the chance for LFIM to get a hold on their group.
They seem to be. I'd start my own, but I already run a Brony message board, a private community board, two facebook business pages, and I do all the other stuff I normally do. I just don't have that kind of time.
It also puts Alec in a delicate position. All someone has to do is post a hit list of his mod quotes and ask why he is being allowed to be an admin in this group.
Sigh. Never changes. No offense to libertarians, but back when Usenet was the only thing, they were the ones who organized first to try to take over all the political discussion groups by trolling anyone who disagreed, starting flame wars and posting endless debating points to drown out the channel, etc. Since no one else was doing it, it stood out bigtime.
The strategy persists against discussion venues of every kind right up to today, with countless self-interest groups trying to exploit the commons. At least the libertarians most the time said who they were.
I'll just keep my discussions of The Orville here. Facebook is becoming a cesspool of YouTube proportions.

Yeah, and now the largest Orville groups have Axanerds running them. I have nothing against people who like Axanar, hell I wanted to love it, but they do shut down any disagreement. This morning, Alec started deleting posts based on what he found offensive, so once I got over the shock of seeing him in an Admin position deleting posts, I knew my ass was jumping off the deck of the RMS Titanic before we left Belfast.
It really is, and that's a shame. I guess, maybe, on the upside is that means forums stay relevant a little bit longer.

I co started a multi fan page years ago but only because I couldn't find one at the time where you could see productions from various fan studios. You could Trek out on the New Voyages page anytime but there were other little productions like The Eagle. A group of youngsters with props made out of some pretty basic materials but the story telling and acting was well beyond their years.
I've never minded somebody dropping by the page to say they liked or disliked a production while stating an honest reason. I just didn't care for people who dropped a turd and left or went on a daily rant toward another fan studio. It wasn't what the platform was created for it.
Seems groups of people have their own vision of what the future will be and that vision must be expressed in Star Trek or you're wrong, your production is a sham and just leave. I don't agree that Star Trek is some holy grail of the future as much as a place to explore all the possibilities, raise the questions today so they can best suit everyone tomorrow. This doesn't happen if we tell people "It's my way or the highway"
In The last 6 months or so I've ran into a growing number of these fan pages that aren't shy to tell you right up front, "Don't say anything we don't want to hear or you're history" Where is the value in that?
