Lazy cross posting. I felt that steaming pile of horse manure deserved a response...
Until almost any fanfilm groups can actually make films where they don't keep crossing the line, can maintain directional continuity, and not stumble on the most basic cinematography rules, or even write a properly structured script, I remain dubious of the merits of any such "school".
^^^Any of them. Every Trek fanfilm I've ever seen has problems with those things.
It def feels like a fan film...........I dunno I've seen some amazing fan films some of the latest ones by Vance Owen are good his latest short Minard is very powerful.
I agree fan films do lack in certain areas but lets not forget fan films are not meant to be Hollywood blockbusters lol and even then to me some fan films are better in some ways as they can deliver much more and not get bogged down by expensive CGI etc.
This academy deal is troubling.
First off Peters never came up with it, put a name to it perhaps but BfD.
I wouldn't be surprised if First Frontier had people who showed up on their door step, wanted to learn and become a part of it. It's a common thread in fan films all over the place, aspiring actors/actress fresh out of acting school that need a little
time in front of the camera and IMDB credits, VFX work, sound, lighting, props, directing, writing, musical scores, you name it. For some it not even about Star Trek, it's about here is my work. There is no way Peters came up with that!
Just another thing he claims as his own like the selfish child in the school yard. pfftt
Alec has actually done what 30 minutes of film tops. What makes him qualified to run any kind of school?
What made him qualified to coach USC men's volleyball?Alec has actually done what 30 minutes of film tops. What makes him qualified to run any kind of school?
No one's talking about blockbusters or expensive CGI. I'm talking about basic film 101 level production stuff. Hell, I glanced at a couple of scenes from STC's latest and they had mismatched eyelines in a really basic setup.![]()
I think that's why James has said they're trying to get production personnel from the various Star Trek series, in order to teach proper technique.
He knows how to artistcally pad a resume? What made him qualified to coach USC men's volleyball?
Step 1...........warehouses are NOT studios. So Cawley will have the fan film school, and Peters will have the how to not make a fan film school.
