CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

How is Axanar still raising funds? Well, remembering what Abraham Lincoln said, "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time," Alec Peters went looking for that second group of people whom he can fool all of the time.
He went on to say that you can fool an Axa-marine at the drop of a Stove top hat

Peters needs to watch himself, or next time CBS/Paramount won't be as "nice" and just sue the shirt off of his back...
1. He's trying to find a "loophole" in the rules so he can still do the full 90 min film...
CBS/Paramount - "WRONG" read the guidelines, you wanted them, you got them, you HAVE to follow them...
2. He's trying to raise more money by way of back door donations, namely not using Gofundme or Kickstarter...
CBS/Paramount - Again "WRONG" you sure you even "READ" the guidelines that you wanted so badly ?

Anyone else care to continue this line of thinking ? I'm sure I've missed some finer details by simplifying this....

Point is... All of this has happened before... And it will all happen again... (paraphrasing of course)

You could spike Slow Lane's kool-aid and he'd still be preaching the Gospel from the Book of Axanar (or believing the trash that comes out of his own mouth)........

And this, my friends Why the Powers that Be have gifted us with guidelines. Fan films are not supposed to be a lucrative industry! They're not supposed to be an industry in any way, shape or form, Slow Lane, you stupid :censored::censored::censored::censored:
:brickwall:

Given that the folks producing Requiem hav e set it in their own fictional universe; it's really not a 'Fan Film' (Star Trek or otherwise). They've done what Alec Peters didn't have the guts to do - and that's retool it so it's in effect their OWN creation.

Yes, it's DEFINITELY inspired by Star Trek (much like Star Trek was inspired by the 1956 feature film "Forbidden Planet'); in effect "Renegades" is now a very low budget (and I don't mean that in a disparaging sense at all, it's just been made on a very small budget) INDEPENDENT film production <--- And that's not a 'new industry'; it's just a segment of the actual Hollywood film industry dating back over 100 years now.
^^^
One of the advantages of doing in the way the people producing/creating "Renegades" did is:
- They can legally copyright it, as it is now an original work.
- They CAN SELL it for whatever price they choose because they OWN the IP they created.
^^^
It's up to the consumer to decide if they want to buy a copy at whatever price the producers set; but unlike Alec Peters and Co.' since they legitamately OWN their work - they can market it how they please. Personally, I think that should be applauded, and I wish them well.

?!? What indeed ?!? Not seeing this anywhere on any major (or minor) news sites. Link?

Edit: Check that. Found it.

Damn! That's fucking depressing. :(

I honestly thought he was much younger than that...

Yes, and elsewhere he's also saying that the 1/3 raised has gone to the cost of renting the studio over the last year, so they don't have any money left.

Is this real life?

I like the guys at Trekyards, but seriously, wow. :brickwall:

Edited to knowledge, Jespah got there first!

Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide,
No escape from reality.

Open your eyes,
Look up to the skies and see,
I'm just a poor boy, I need no sympathy,
Because I'm easy come, easy go,
Little high, little low,
Any way the wind blows doesn't really matter to me, to me.

Sound a bit familiar? Like someone we know?
