CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

I don't believe any second that there are more than 500 "active" donors still waiting for that shipwreck to be filmed. Seriously!
I believe "9.500+" donors have left the building long ago and went on with their lives. At least.

Is there any way to see about how many unique posters and readers a group has, or at least a range? Maybe by marketing tools on Facebook that price ads to the group, or something more direct, such as it being posted somewhere? I'm sure they'd call such numbers out as an attack on them, but if for the last 3 months they really have had only a few hundred posters and readers, that would lend some perspective about what "the donors" want. They'd dilute it by claiming all sorts of emails and in person support, but a slow group would tell a story.

The Amazing Carnak Predicts - Alex Peters will loose his [ censored ] online once CBS/Para sues him six ways to Sunday & has no more light blue shirt on him to keep the cold out .... Hey we know the guy can't keep his fool mouth closed no matter what... As for his "Followers" same there too, they will cry "Foul" as they will get NOTHING, good day sir...

My other take-away from LFIM's comments regarding "logical, money-making solutions," is that it's starting to become clear that he intentionally constructed Axanar--or more to the point, the Whatever-We're-Calling-It-Today Studios--as a Potemkin Village. (Not to be confused with the Excelsior-class USS Potemkin.) After all, if his objective was simply to grift the donors, he would not have gone to the effort of procuring the warehouse. He would've simply embezzled the money and skipped off to the Caribbean by now. Similarly, if he just wanted to make a film, he would've heeded Christian Gossett's counsel and been done a year ago.

Instead, he went to the time and expense of creating the facade of a potentially profitable studio in the hopes that CBS would "buy him out." It reminds me of the Michael Scott Paper Company story arc from "The Office." Michael started his own paper company, lured away Dunder-Mifflin's top clients by undercutting their prices--a financially unsustainable business model--and convinced the company to buy him out. Of course, that scheme only worked because D-M was (a) run by idiots and (b) in a financial position where they couldn't risk losing the sales from the Scranton office. I don't think CBS is in a similar position here. Even under the worst case scenario, they can risk the "loss" of Axanar's donor base.

Excellent analysis, and one that fits Alec's overall M.O. up to this point
1) Find a niche
2) Attract investment
3) Create a "product"
4) Sell the business

It seems clear from his statements that Alec Peters wants to make AXANAR and "give" it to CBS/Paramount for them to distribute and make money. Alec would thereby become the creator of an official Star Trek production. Clearly, he does not recognize that that CBS/P will not allow that to happen.
Maybe Alex cleared it with Wang Jianlin.

Viacom Chairman, Sumner Redstone purchased Paramount in the 90's for $9.7 billion and has battled his board over the sale of a 49% stake in Paramount. Paramount's declining book value over the last few years has taken the blame for holding back growth in it's parent Viacom.
Jianlin's corporation, Wanda sits on the high bid for the Paramount stake establishing a total value of Sumner's $9.7 billion dollar investment right around $4.8 billion. Sumner doesn't wish to lose $5 billion bucks.
As for now it's been reported the matter of the sale will not be taken up until after the next election of Viacom's board of directors. It's my opinion this gives Mr. Jinalin some 5 - 6 months to set conditions for terms of sale within each Paramount franchise and division. Peter's Epic Court Battle is going be fresh on everyone's mind in 6 months, so what is going to stop Mr. Jinalin from making all these uppish fan films like Anaxar simply go away before signing a contract?
If Peters and company had a gram of respect for Star Trek Fans and Fan films he would publicly apologize, toss his butt on the mercy of P/CBS, stop undermining the IP holder and walk away.

Yes, whenever a new outsider boss comes in, nails sticking up are early targets for showing boss-power by fiat. And absolutely every studio insider will have their head as far down as possible to avoid attention. There will be no defense against a ban if it is proposed.

Newsflash: The Producers isn't a how-to manual.

See, if LFIM had hired Mel Brooks to direct Axanar, not only would the movie have been done already, but they could've shipped finished Blu-Rays to the donors in the middle of making the film.

"CBS and Paramount Pictures don’t appear willing to cede any kind of business arrangement that would allow Axanar to move forward, according to executive producer Alec Peters."
Good

"We have tried to make a deal and they will have no part of it."
Good

"We offered CBS Axanar for free 7 months ago, and they refused."

"or what the fans want"
I am a fan, Mr. Peters. I do not want what you want. You do not speak for "fans". You speak for a very small subset of a very 'very' small subset of fans who even 'know' about you.

I've asked you several times before to stop saying you speak for me.

Stop it.

EDIT: Dear, CBS.... Love the Official 50th Anniversary beer you've released to stores. Have stocked up on them to serve at my September 8th Star Trek 50th anniversary party.
