Here is a point my partner made to me last night while discussing the lawsuit. She said, what interest could be being generated by the raised money in whatever bank account/s it is stored in?
I doubt it's enough to cover the costs of the studio/warehouse plus legal fees.

It has to do with the hypocrisy of criticizing entities for revisionistic behavior when said critics themselves also choose to omit or make invisible opinions they find offensive.

Maybe someone's opinion isn't offensive, just annoying when you know they're not listening to reason or plan to. You have a right to talk but no one has an obligation to listen.

I'm still overwhelmed, that with far over 10.000 enthusiastic Axanar fans... there are only 1-5 comments on each Captain's Blog. I would have thought, his followers would comment on every single word His Majesty has spoken - and if only to show their unending and faithful support.
It can't be, that there are more deleted (or in limbo status) comments by haters than by followers... They would have no vested interest in Axanar...

If you were to toss caution to the wind, in an investment account you could return 1% per month and earn $5,000 a month from a half a million nest egg.
Expect eggs to be broken!

Famous Hollywood Producers don't have to know how to count.

In all seriousness the total number of people who care enough about this issue to comment (including folks on both sides of the debate) is likely less than a thousand, and most of those do their commenting on FB, the Internet's water cooler.

So, not enough to pay the rent, but a tidy little sum per month nevertheless.

I must've missed that.
I saw the post mentioning Mel Brooks a few pages ago. What joke am I missing, or is it a reference to "The Producers"!

I think AP has known what the endgame here would be for some time hence this constant 'we've got something really cool coming soon but we can't tell you just yet by the way have you seen this new bunch of crap you can pick up at the Donor Store?'. I actually believe he's listening to someone (perhaps Bawden) and that's why he hasn't dropped his bomb yet, even though he clearly wants to (think a child on Christmas Eve). What the bomb is, I think, is to produce 'something' and the time that's being taken now is so they know how to pave the way to it and spin it accurately enough so that not too many of the acolytes turn round and go 'what the hell is this crap?'.

In essence, he's sold them fillet steak but now he's working out the best way to make them want to eat dog-shit.

I was just responding to a hypothetical put that Alec seems to be able to land on his feet and probably could find a way to sell even a stripped-of-Trek show to his donors.

I was indicating that if he could get Mel Brooks involved, even I would agree.

No prior knowledge of him having done this.

Although you have to admit, the longer it goes on, the closer it may get to someone of that caliber taking an interest in the metastory

What follows is my opinion.

For many adults, financial responsibility is inextricably linked with self-thoughts re maturity. E. g. you are an upstanding individual, you can pay your own way, stand on your own two feet, be the man (or woman, etc.) - all of those things are understandably valued in our society.

When you tell someone they have made a bad financial decision, that is all undercut. They dig their heels in, and it becomes a face-saving move. This continues; they can't admit they were wrong because that might mean other major decisions they've made were wrong.

I manage a large Q & A site and we get all sorts of questions, including those from people who are hewing and hawing to try to figure out whether they need to/should leave an abusive relationship. Over the course of over 13 years, I have found you can't tell these people they're dumb or yell at them or anything of the sort. Instead, this is what works:
  • Validate them as mature human being. They are good parents or they are trying to be independent, they are artistic or athletic or strong or kind or any other positive characteristic you can believably convince them that they are.
  • Give them the old 'walk a mile in someone else's shoes' test, e. g. ask them what they would say if a friend or sibling was in their exact situation. Much of the time, when their own emotions and feelings of self-worth are removed from the equation, they see what's really going on.
  • Remind them they need to be able to protect their children or other loved ones. Don't make it about them as they can often feel they don't deserve help or protection, but they can generally see when their kids do. And/or also -
  • Give them a view of the future. A slap today will be a punch tomorrow. A loose tooth this week will be a black eye in a month.
This is not a perfect analogy, and I certainly don't pretend it's scientific. But a lot of this heel-digging seems similar. Telling people they are doing something nutty does not do any good. They are prepared for that. They are not so prepared to hear that you think they are good people but .....

I do agree with all this.

My sense though is that Axanar will see a "colony collapse" moreso than a persuasion of donors one by one.

At some point, what Axanar is holding as a principle donors should support (create a new evolution of fan film reach and quality, or create "true Trek") will be seen as so unviable (destroyed by Axanar management decisions and actions or studio perfidy) that donors en masse will lose hope they can ever get the result.

A certain number will still insist there are four lights, but for the great majority there will be no desire any longer to invest that belief in the vehicle called Axanar. They may look for future opportunities to express their desire, but Axanar will be seen as Wile E Coyote off the cliff and no longer running on air.

Smoking suffered such a collapse.

That isn't their biggest way of making money. They already said on facebook that they were fixing to rent the studio out to another production to use. So I'm sure they are going to make some decent money on doing that.

He should settle, but I think he is too arrogant to do so.

He's going to be "Baghdad Bob" for the next 6 months.
^^^
You assume C/P want to settle. At this point I don't think they do. They most likely want to send a clear unambiguous message that if yo9u use the Star Trek IP and cross the line - you'll be prosecuted to the full extent - no negotiation.

But, we'll see.
