CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Yeah and was absolutely amazed by it. How could any of them think that was okay?

They seem to have drunk the AP kool-aid that "CBS says its ok as long as we don't make any money off of it" means "no net cash on the table" and all other legal considerations have been given a pass. Even though AP also protests in the legal response that CBS wouldn't tell them what is ok or not, and thus has no right to say anyone crossed the line. Law excepted.

Like this? ;)

So it should have been close to 0.05 parallax seconds then, heh? I'm not big with Star Charts at all, I believe. :D

You receive a sextant when you graduate stellar cartography at the Academy :-)

which I apparently didnt :-) since I interpolated 'arc second' and converted it to distance, not parsec, an actual length measure which for your number would be much closer. O I have been out of school way too long :-)

I noticed a day or two ago it was mentioned that pro Trek novelist Dave Galanter helped with the Axanar script. Has he said anything about his involvement with it since the lawsuit? Knowing how much Alec Peters like to lie and exaggerate, I was just wondering how involved Galanter really was, and if he could be effected by the lawsuit.
Dave made his comments to me about a week ago, and they appear on AxaMonitor in the "The Does" article.

Oooh. Who made that cool chart?

Update from http://www.axanarproductions.com/mythbu ... oductions/

After AXANAR is produced, we will still have a roughly $ 250,000 liability on the books for two years’ rent. Someone needs to pay that rent.

As a result, a small group of backers and fans have developed a plan to set up a separate company to take over the management the sound stage, pay the rent and reimburse Axanar Productions for the cost of the build-out. That company will assume the $250,000 liability for the remainder of the lease. To do that, the new company will need to be a for-profit entity and raise investment dollars for capital.

We consider this to be a win-win for everybody. The new entity will reimburse Axanar Productions all the money that was spent on upgrading the building and those funds will go into the production.

Well this is FUN!

The cheeky bloody bastards...! (Yes, I can say that as I doubt their parents were married at the time of conception or birth!!!)

So. if Axanar is made, does Axanar Productions close down? What is the betting that Peters is made head of this new company? How do they plan to raise money with a conviction for IP theft?

I am a *very* patient person, and even so, this is un - &*(^&*( - believable. They previously said straight up they intended to run their own for profit studio using the improvements they are making to this space, and make their own productions, not just rent, and not just for a limited period with the only motivation being to pay off the lease.

All I can say is that I wouldn't want to be the accountant charged with sorting out the books on this one. There's a lot of money to keep track of and a great big eye keeping watch.

Thanks, Neil!

Um, wow... that was some breathtaking bloviation in the intro, followed by a nothing scene. Honestly, I'm not sure the visual effects are any better than those of the far-lower-budget Horizon.

But you have to admit, it is transformative. They had Soval wear an IDIC pin.
