CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Now Mr. Peters states he can't use pledged funds for his trip to a Star Trek convention? Since he HAS used pledged funds for travel/hotel/admission to such conventions in the past, I wonder what changed? Does he now suddenly/finally realize lawyers can actually read Facebook/Twitter and other things on the internet too? Wow - talk about being slow...:ack::rofl:;)

Nothing has changed--he just thinks he has a new ripe bunch of donors to harvest. And he might get away with it too..........We must warn our neighbors!:rolleyes: I wonder if he knows we have interwebs here, we even have THE Twitter!

Of course, we talked Axa (man oh man you get to hear a lot of my dulcet tones).

Blog post and YouTube will be up later today. My own blog about the amended complaint is slated for tomorrow.

Today's episode will be called either Careful What You Wish For or Semantic Shenanigans. We may flip a coin. Thank you, as always, for your kind support.
I'd use both titles, like an episode of Rocky & Bullwinkle and announce it in a William Conrad voice.

"Today's episode: Careful What You Wish For, or Semantic Shenanigans."

England has more pubs per Sq mile than any other country i know
If you can get in touch with any disgruntled Axanar Crowd funders living on our side of the pond, direct them to whichever pub he lands in. After they've had a few 'shandies' it'll be like that scene in the Simpsons episode with the mono rail where the con man finds himself in one of the towns he'd fleeced. Not that I'm in any way advocating physical violence of course, but it will be more difficult to ignore any naysayers in the flesh than on FB or Twitter.

Sounds good to me

Wish we could (I love R & B), but SEO only wants one. Hence, it's going to be Semantic Shenanigans (I'm sure we'll use the other at some point).

Oh, and over 8500 words later, my post is done. It'll surface on Monday. Ingredients include:
  • a quote from a famous work
  • a shout out to AxaMonitor
  • a mention of Bauhaus-style architecture and more!
PS Thank you for your kind support. I need to not look at a screen for a while. :)

A mention of Bahaus-style architecture?

Sold. :)

Invented by Walter Gropius

"Origins: The Protracted Man"--with Captain Garth peeking in on Cadet James Kirk taking his Kobayashi Maru test--was shot in June of 2010--before Alec Peters had embarked on any of his own independent Axanar productions. (Efforts are underway to get this episode finished up even these six years later.)
The "Going Boldly" vignette was shot in June of 2012 in conjunction with our "Bread and Savagery" episode; it also salvaged some footage that we shot in June of 2012 for our aborted version of "Mind-Sifter." Lastly, some STNV cast and crew got together in conjunction with the Axanar Productions team to shoot the Axanar vignette "Heroes" in October of 2015.

For the "June 2012 footage from our aborted version of Mind Sifter" - Greg is correctly including some of the shots of "mourners" that were at James Kirk's memorial. However, it was shot in June 2011. That footage from "the abandoned Mind Sifter" was meshed together with footage shot in June 2012 for "Going Boldly", written by Dave Galanter. At the time, Alec described this vignette as the "jumping off point for Axanar".

I haven't read all 585 pages of this thread - but I don't believe anyone is pointing out that Alec, in fact, paid himself twice for many of these shoots. He not only drew a salary as the producer, and had his union dues paid - but he's one of the actors who drew 1099s from the production budget as well. That was the whole reason for him joining SAG.

You had me at Bauhaus.

If Patty is to be believed, this is just more evidence pointing to this being nothing more than a shameless cash grab by Peters.

Thanks! I've updated the timeline accordingly.

don't recall seeing this called out. wonder how it might pertain to the total he identified for himself, ie, was it all included.

Don't forget to add the 2011 Mind Sifter shoot.

No. He identified his salary as a producer. I've not seen anywhere that he added additional monies paid to him as an actor. (and, if I'm correct, it was others, not Peters, who observed that his union dues were paid.)

How many times did he need to play Garth in a SAG production?

Because if it was once, he wouldn't have to join SAG. He could've been Taft Hartley'd in. Basically a waiver with SAG.

So, those union dues may have been unnecessary. And if they had known anything about the industry, they would've known that.

You know, ever since the 'World Tour' was announced, I keep seeing the scene from Law and Order, where the female ADA asks that the accused surrender their passport as she considers them a flight risk!

If Peters had been planning to play Garth in "Axanar," would being a union member justify his being paid for his work on that project?
