Not to derail thread but - I wonder is C/P is taking Lucasfilm's recent lead on loading the new project with "respected names from the past" to add credibility with fans who felt the respective franchise had drifted from the "good old days".

All Lord Alec & co (Tobias Richter I'm assuming....) did was expand upon things based off the Kelvin's design/aesthetics (which could still be considered infringing I'm sure).............(they could've gone an alternate route and used the Baton Rouge class and other old school/FASA designs which would've made for some interesting VFX......)

At this point it's becoming "stunt casting." Shatner will be a creative consultant before they're done.

That's my take - Give them a paycheck and a title on the new Star Trek series and they won't come out publicly saying: "This new series is NOT what Gene Roddenberry would have done...he's turning over in his Grave..."et al.

Wow - I am amazed that Axanar's legal team is letting this happen. (Of course maybe they DID raise an objection and Mr. Peters blew them off.) I have a feeling once W&S lose big to C/P (or make a settlement that Mr. peters in the end accepts but isn't really happy with because I see NO CHANCE for any settlement that will allow the Axanar feature film to be produced as anything related to 'Star Trek'); we'll see Mr. Alec 'lawyer by training' Peters either badmouthing or threatening to sue W&S for "incompetent representation."Just when you thought you'd seen everything....
