CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

@Karzak, those are actually some pretty impressive credits if you ask me. Definitely a hell of a lot more impressive than Peters', unlike him you've actually worked on real Hollywood productions.
Seriously, what has HE created in people's lives? A fan film? Is that is really making people's lives better to such an extent he can steal stuff, then people need more fulfilling lives on their own.
Wow, that's a pretty shitty thing to say. I have a feeling a lot of minimum wage workers probably work a lot harder for their money Peters does.

Well, he sure did his damnedest to dox me, with all three of his puppet accounts there, using my name.

My REAL name, which again, Peters only just learned this past weekend. I guess he felt the need to try to get a rise out of me. And while I did comment on the article over there, it's a shame the insecure prick completely harassed the wrong person, assuming they were me.

Like a poor marksman, Peters keeps. missing. the. target...

More importantly, he knows better. He's known I value my privacy for years and it has, likewise, eaten him up for years that he didn't know my real name so he could bully me outside of online forums. Now that he has it, he's shouting it from the hilltops. My favorite part is where he repeatedly accuses me of being a "failed" writer in Hollywood, yet my decade in Hollywood seems to show a nearly consistent resume of work and steady progression and advancement. No, I'm not a working writer (yet), but it's also one of the hardest industries to break in to. I'd gladly hold my IMDb up to Peters for comparison any day and I'd stand by my work every time compared to his two short films and the half dozen times he's played Garth in the fan films.

Really quite sad, actually. I've reported him to both Disqus and The Hollywood Reporter, so hopefully something can be done about his ability to post there since he clearly has no respect for boundaries or personal privacy.

As I said before ... Peters is a scumbag and a psychopath. Anyone needing proof only needs to read the comments of that article.

EDIT: Here's my IMDb page, complete with every single thing I've done in my ten years in Hollywood (and some stuff prior).

Now, here's Alec's IMDb page, complete with every single thing he's done, including all the times he broke copyright law making fan films.

Tell me, in your general estimation, which of us is the professional failure in the film and television industry?

And Alec, we know you're reading this, so I'll just close with one more remark.

Mine's bigger.

Dude.........definitely sorry he's trained his oversized ego on you. I'm sure when karma comes back around to bite him, it will be all the sweeter.

Stay classy, Alec.

Neil

Didn't this prick once refer to the 'salary' he paid himself as being at/close to/below minimum wage?? Seriously, the best thing he could do right now would be to STFU............but he can't, because his own perverted sense of self-importance has completely overridden any sense of good judgement (assuming he had some to start with).

However, Carlos, I have to work with the definition that Ranahan has asked us to work with, to help understand why she is using the term. See Footnote 6 on page 4 of the main breakdown in the motion Ranahan filed. She provides not only a link to the definition of "mockumentary" she is using, but also defines it in the footnote as "a movie or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary."

Sorry, I like to go with intent of what is being said, especially with colloquialisms, and appreciate when someone (especially a lawyer) specifically defines what that intent is, as was done in this footnote. Nothing in her footnote seems to even suggest she is calling "Prelude" a parody, and that she is using "mockumentary" as a descriptor exactly for what I was saying — the story device of making something look like a documentary, when it's actually a documentary of fiction.
The fact that she even defines her use of the term makes it clear she isn't going for a parody defense.

Even those brain-draining shows they make these days for Shark Week and such, like "Megalodon" and "Submarine," while blatantly bogus to those who look closely eough, are played straight, yet they are mockumentaries.

Did Mr. James Cawley know about this stuff before filming that vignette and getting involved with Axanar Productions? It looks like it doesn't matter because the two are still "friends" on Facebook even after Alec Peters threw a bucket of spits in his face in that 1701news.com article.
The vignette was filmed about a month before the lawsuit was served.

The script is locked, except it isn't. They're ready to film, except they're not. People are cast, except they aren't. Peters is playing Garth, except when he's not. Peters/Axanar have cast THEMSELVES as liars, either to court or to their donars. Does it matter which? A liar is a liar.
Hater, loser, troll, stalker!

Add "They're building a for profit studio, except they're not." Yup, Alec today is claiming they are just like the other fan films.

His whole "non profit" obfuscation in yesterday's THR comment section really boils my blood. He's purposely misleading people to confuse them and extract more money from them.
He's taking advantage of people's naivety - in tax matters, in legal matters, and in business matters. Registered non profits are in the public record. Axanar isn't a non profit. It's a private corporation owned by Alec (if there are other owners they will soon be added to the lawsuit). I think this is where he skates very close to the fraud line.
He's very careful to not outright lie and say "Axanar is a nonprofit", he just lobs red herrings like "non profits pay salaries to staff" and his minions then misinterpret that to mean "Axanar is a non profit", and repeat it all over the Internet. The affect is to soothe the fan base and mislead them into thinking they are "donating" to a "non profit" endeavor. But the truth is, they are handing their money over to a for profit corporation that has zero accountability to them and zero say over how the money is spent. I find it disgusting, frankly that he uses innocent, naive fans to perpetuate this lie.
That's what scammers like Alec Peters do best, use fallacies and dishonest ploys misleading people.

There's a winner in THR thread:

What a truly strange motion, and odds are, in my humble opinion, one that will be rejected out of hand. It rests on the theory that the copyrights can only be violated once the film is completed. Apart from whether the planned film violates copyrights, which is disputed, didn't the Axanar team use and profit from the very same alleged copyrights in soliciting funds for the movie itself? Axanar's position, it seems, is that it would be perfectly fine to use pictures of Darth Vader to solicit money to make a Star Wars movie (and pay yourself from the proceeds), as long as you never end up making the movie. Seriously?

Oh, I'll bet there are a number of places where he used the words "Axanar is (a) nonprofit/not for profit", with no skating. Just not "nonprofit corporation"; and redefining the term "nonprofit" in his crossed fingers.

He's said "there's no reason Axanar couldn't have a nonprofit", note the word "have", not "be". Another set of crossed fingers.

He's said they have been working on their nonprofit application, even posted a picture of the person supposedly working on it (for over 6 months). Same thing.

I wonder how many donors are writing off their donations based on what they read.

Stay classy, Alec.

nothing else is germaine: as in, germs from Maine? lets ask CBS, sounds like a series spec...

earners: "donors in their little heads" and "minimum wage earners" are such little people, as compared to those taking value and rebranding it as their own created value, and diverting some of it to pay themselves.

I love how the Axanar folks can't allow a single comment to go by unanswered (unless it's about where the money went). It kills Peters to not be able to control the narrative.

Sound familiar? Grade school: "I know you are, but what am I".

Circular logic gets them every time! ;)

BTW, Welcome back Karzak. That's the last time you go wondering off in the woods alone!

Actually, it sounds like when Donald Trump insults people: Loser, hater, unsuccessful, failure, etc.

same thing

Q) could you explain this thing (which has the smell of failed quality of thought/morals?)
A) you are the failure here, shut up

== I know you are, but what am I? *

just make the strategy preemptive.

(* qualification: as always, Patrick Stewart could find a way to deliver the phrase with a legitimate meaning )

Any further updates on Star Trek: Horizon? They still on target to release on the 28th?

I like how Karzak essentially played himself in the L&O:LA episode.

That was the whole reason I got that call! A reality producer I used to work for (my mentor, actually) when I first got to LA brought us all in. The whole team of reality crew in that episode were all from a reality show we worked on together in 2008, before I finally made the switch to scripted.
