Unbelievable the circles these people will run around in to cling to any kind of hope now (in the comments section)...

Convenient that they left out the dissenting replies to Gerrold's post.

I don't know... this one doesn't address Gerrold, but still amazed it got through:

IMDB has literally no authority over what is constituted as “official” in any capacity. It is a user-maintained site that is good for record keeping but little else.

The real problem Sarah is not that fan films are better with more enthusiastic staff; that’s just fandom masturbating to it’s own fantasy of controlling the franchise. Which production is “better” is entirely subjective and there’s no single, blanket answer to the question. Alec and Axanar fans are fond of pontificating that “Axanar is the Star Trek we all have been waiting for” — well, maybe for you guys, but not for everyone. Certainly not for me. I have enjoyed every single official production from CBS and Paramount (the only true authority on what constitutes “official” content here) and found Axanar to be lacking.

It is this precise fanaticism you are demonstrating, the precise lack of any kind of realistic or rational perspective with respect to CBS/Paramount’s rightful, legal ownership of the Star Trek brand that is putting everything Axanar has attempted to do at risk. Take a step back. Take a deep breath. Consider this from every angle. Star Trek is not yours. Star Trek is not Alec’s. Star Trek is not mine. It belongs to CBS and Paramount and they’re going to do whatever they want to do with it and the only say we have in the matter is whether or not we will spend our money to purchase what they produce.

Who says there was ever a "CBS unofficial policy?"

Lots of people. Doesn't make it true, of course, but there's at least a small shred of credibility behind it based on ST:C's IRS filings. I'm taking it at face value since I'm not currently at risk of violating this possibly imaginary unwritten policy.

Haven't seen this one here yet. Much to my surprise, it would seem that Jerry Doyle (of B5 fame) is also drinking the Kool-Aid.

I think I'll just... get back to work. :sigh:

Doyle's a butthead from way back. It would be difficult for him to say something stupid enough to surprise me.

Hm, didn't know that; haven't followed the B5 crowd. I guess it just surprises me that people connected with the industry in general would side with Axanar at all, rightly or wrongly. Biting the hand that feeds you an' all. :wtf:

Would Mr. Gerrold be up for someone using one of his IP’s, collecting donations based on it and paying themselves a salary from said donations?
I asked Gerrold this when he responded to one of my posts. He didn't answer....

I'm making a million-dollar Star Wolf fan film. Send me money and I'll send you an autographed K-cup.

^ This is the true Star Wolf all fans have been looking for! It's EXACTLY what David Gerrold would have wanted. And I get a signed K-Cup?!? TAKE MY MONEY!

Applause to those of you who suspected traffic brought the site down. According to their Facebook page that's what happened.

I still like my story better. :)

I'm the only person who really knows how to write 'Star Wolf.' I know it better than the people who created it and I know it better than the people who own it.

What's your stance on earning a salary on IP that doesn't belong to you?

Could you pay me in cash?

Gerrold will scream to high heaven if he doesn't get his cut!

We've made a deal to develop a series.

I mean, not a deal with Gerrold, just a deal with somebody or another who wants to direct. I'm sure that Gerrold will agree, though, because although I haven't actually contacted him I'm a huge fan and I really, really want him to.

Deal memos go out to Patrick Stewart, Scott Bakula, Al Vinci and some kid who played a Borg on Voyager next week...just as soon as I can track down their addresses on People Finder.

I doubt he will. Answering such a question would show how disingenuous he really is.

Is the K-cup signed by you or Mr. Gerrold? ;)

I thought at some point ST/NV and Axanar were going to a produce a joint production at the ST/NV studio, even to the point of having some joint cast photos taken. Does anyone know the status of that venture?
