Really? Christ I'm behind the times. In the early days of this debacle I read the title "CBS drops lawsuit on Axanar" and thought that meant they'd retracted legal action. I remember thinking "I didn't know they'd sued in the first place!"

Yeah, it's not a good headline to use, because it can have an intended meaning. Sometimes it's better to go straightforward with a headline, than cute.

It's like when you cover sports, you might say a star player re-signs with a team, but you might not say the head coach re-signs, because it looks like resign.

So how aware do you guys think the Axanar people would be of someone like me who just posts on the thread occasionally?

And even if you had gotten the T-shirt, wouldn't you be embarrassed to wear that thing now?
Did anyone see those Minnion T-Shirts they were peddling? I mean, they really thought that IP was like oxygen. I would most certainly have enjoyed seeing what else they would've come with if they'd be left unchecked. Axanar Ramones T-shirts? Axanar Unknown Pleasures T-shirts?

That exact situation happened a number of years ago when Phil Jackson re-signed with the Lakers. ESPN's on-screen headline read, just like this:

"Jackson Resigns with Lakers"

That's right, no hyphen. My eyes bulged out of my head, until I heard the guy talking about it.

"With" tells the context of "resigns". If he was leaving it would be, "Jackson Resigns from Lakers".

No argument, but when you see it, you don't think about all the little grammatical clues. When "re-sign" is so close to "resign" and have opposite meanings, the headline should have read "Jackson signs new contract with Lakers."
