Because people who just want flashy sets are just in it to fulful their childhood dreams of being on a starship, not their adult dreams of producing a well-written script.I'm with you. I'd rather see a good script well acted on limbo set than expensive museum pieces with amateur hour scripts that say nothing. I don't get the thrill some people seem to get from elaborate sets and effects in lieu of a well told story.
