CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

It seems like it's an actual documentary on the history of the FASA game, the fan novel series and the Axanar film itself: https://twitter.com/BurnettRM/status/706906264907821056

Funny, I've never thought about making a documentary for something I haven't actually made yet.

Its a Mock U Mentary

If their usual pattern as revealed in the podcasts and everything since the lawsuit persists, it will be full of actionable revelations, a Road To Penury, a Contradictory Faux Art Reverie

What on earth is a 'Four Years War' documentary? Its a privately made up fiction they love among themselves in a gamer edge world of a vaguely referenced event of a 50 year old scifi show. Don't they have lives?

I think they want to stake out a bit of the trek timeline as their creation, and they are determined to force this agenda onto the fan world one way or another. FWIW, which is very little.

No word if they then stole the car, arguing that the family wasn't doing anything with it and they love it more anyway, but I would not rule it out.

They've shot their credibility to such a degree, I'm not sure whether or not this is made up?

Interesting, considering Stephen Fender (whom I'm presuming is the guy on the right) pretty much scrubbed his site of any mention of his 'Four Years War' novels......

http://www.stephenfender.com

Though to be fair, depending on how this turns out, it could shed interesting light on the impetus behind 'Axanar' and thus, give us a look at Lord Alec's motivations and such.......

To be fair, Gerrold did have a hand in writing the show's bible, introducing some new concepts ("away teams" lead by the XO) and fleshing out the characters.

I agree. But taking other people's work without compensation/credit/permission should be something he's against based on his experiences.

I think they are going to use this as a fund raiser perk, or donation to keep the home fires lit perk. I seem to recall AP saying something about this.

Ten years ago, a crack production team was sued by a cooperation they did not infringe upon.
These men quickly launched a "World Tour" and survive off the money of doners.
If you love "True Trek", have a checking account, and have not been banned as a troll, maybe you can donate to: The Axanar-Team.

Anyhow, I hope they are now travelling around soliciting donations by helping one person at a time, A-Team style.

After C/P gets done with them, that'll probably be the only way they can survive.......

A making-of documentary about a film that has no chance of getting made? What's Burnett's next project, a documentary on the making of his sex tape with the Victoria's Secret models?

A question for Janet - what would happen to the suit if Axanar Productions folded?
You mean bankruptcy for the company or for AP? Either way, CBS/Paramount would be pushing to become secured creditors. I imagine a pending lawsuit would be taken into consideration in any potential bankruptcy ruling. Those rulings are often pennies on the dollar. Everybody gets into line. Child support and secured creditors pretty much get to the front.

Yes, but what if Alec tried to legally dissolve the company (assuming that's possible under american business law)? What it be possible to do so and avoid half the "charges" or would it have to continue "in business" until the trial was over?
