CBS/Paramount sues to stop Axanar

Only one of them appeared in a JJ Abrams Star Trek movie then went home and created a vignette to "fix the timeline" after JJ Abrams had reached out to do something nice for him and the guy who played Spock then. JJ Abrams didn't have to do that. He could have had CBS and Paramount shut down all of the Star Trek fan films before making the first movie but he didn't which he obviously should have so that this Axanar wouldn't have happened.

Whether they appear or not, they are still allowed to have an opinion on material that is produced. I don't share that opinion, but they have a right to have it.

I didn't say they're not allowed to an opinion. I didn't say you're not allowed to post comment to my post but you did and I respect you for having an opinion. I just wanted to share my thought that Alec Peters was not the only not nice person in the photo. Was calling out James Cawley for his action a little too much?

You know damned well that would not be the case. You were not comparing Axanar to the Nazis, but making a bigoted comment basically saying "Hey, a German! He must hate Jews!" It was very insulting to the poster in question and to decent people everywhere.

Hell, half the people around here (or fans no longer posting here) think I'm the antichrist anyhow. If I had money for every "bitch" or "cunt" I've been called (a record was being called "cunt" twenty-one times in an email to me), I could retire to the Riviera!

So... I haven't looked at this thread since Friday, and there are a bunch more pages now. What's the latest on the legal proceedings?

Both teams of lawyers have been ordered to come up with a mutually agreed upon plan for the discovery phase, which they are required to submit by April 18th. The first day in court will be May 8th. I think that's all there is, officially.

Can you imagine Alec Peters going into his schtick of, "I'm full of awesome-sauce, you're a hating nobody loser," towards the judge?
That rhetorical nonsense might fly on the internet but in a courtroom AP is in for huge surprise. :guffaw:
