Well, I'm reminded of that blog post from Alec where he was complaining about selling off his prop collection to keep paying the studio rent.

All along they've kept asserting that their critics get it wrong, while CBS's lawyers have been dismantling their fraud.

Is RMB even working now? Besides bloviating on a podcast?
According to IMDB, which might was well be fake news...eh...sorta?

He's been an editor of a sci-fi movie with 4.6/10 stars, a Lifetime tv movie with 5/10 stars (Starring Tracy Gold!), and currently directed/edited/produced an as of yet unaired tv series involving something so arcane it's destined to fail.

Oh, he's also directed a something or other about comedy in...Belize? Ad to that camera work on some other gig and that's about it for the past 3 years.

He's on the Collider YouTube Channel as a co-host of a show called "Heros" about all things superhero........I'm sure that pays for the cigs and beer..........

RMB made a few dozen extras for Trek DVDs, and some other Trek things, if not directly making the shows or movies. http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Robert_Meyer_Burnett

What got my attention was that he in so-many-words said on podcasts that their plan was to create a for profit studio (and he gave an example of a production that was sold for profit for comparison), and then he ridiculed and called false all comments by others that Axanar planned to make a for profit studio.

It simply isn't acceptable to be on permanent record as saying you are doing something, and then aggressively call wrong everyone who quotes you. I have no idea where such an attitude comes from.

Scrolled back a few pages and I don't think this has been posted. Apologies if it has.

Slow Lane evidently got Ira Steven Behr to sit down for a chit chat though........

All excellent insights, TYGR…especially this one you made:

“Now see, I find that interesting when he was saying that that unexpected massive overfund fundamentally changed the metric in terms of how he was previously thinking about it. And what he can now do. So now the completion is being moved forward so he can get all these newly affordable things incorporated into the original plan.”

Folks tend to fault Alec Peters for expanding the scope of Axanar as the money began rolling in. But in fact, the additional funding was simply opening up new opportunities to make an ever-more ambitious fan film. At the time, it wasn’t considered “too” ambitious. There was enough money to afford to build a soundstage to construct the sets and shoot on, and enough to film the first 30 minutes. It was assumed that enough additional could be raised to shoot another 30 minutes the following year and 30 minutes more the year after. At the time, this seemed a reasonable plan…as no one expected a full-on lawsuit, and Axanar crowd-funding campaigns were still taking in mid six-figures. And had that money dried up, the second two parts might have become just one part…or less ambitious parts.
uhm what?

Here is the full context on my own thoughts on the Ira Steven Behr recording posted on fff. I have bolded & underlined & [clarified] here in this Thread the points *I* was making. Yup, in his reply I fully noted he only spoke to the one that made the defendant's point. <sigh> :)
Hi, Mr. Lane
I enjoyed the interview; the part about his documentary, the part about his time working on ST, as well as the part about the guidelines.

Am I to understand Mr. Behr is, or is wanting to, start making DS9 again??? That would be interesting.

I found it fascinating that, was it he crowdfunding for $100K?, but got $600K? Now see, I find that interesting when he was saying that that unexpected massive overfund fundamentally changed the metric in terms of how he was previously thinking about it. And what he can now do. So now the completion is being moved forward so he can get all these newly affordable things incorporated into the original plan.

I thought that a terrific point that actually highlights one of contentious points we questioning donors have had with the movie fan film when we saw the dates keep getting pushed forward (or is it back). He made 'your' point and gave me some insight. Cool.

I was interested in his point on the guidelines about using previous ST employed persons on fan films. But I hadn’t considered 15 minute non-serialized fan films with previous ST employees choosing to practice their craft on a fan film that won’t be paying anybody including them. Well, that does sound like a ‘Fan’ film to ‘me’. Cool.

Also, I was interested in how [Mr. Behr] reiterated ST is filled and bouncing off rules, fighting with rules, rules rules rules. [Mr. Behr] said “And you know what? Who knows and who cares and we tried to do a good show”.

Oh. And that a fan author took license with the Bajor story, making it part of the Federation, and [Mr. Behr said it pissed him off] because the whole point of the series was that Bajor ‘Not’ become part of the Federation. I could see how a [Studio] produced series/movie could have real issues with [a fan produced something] changing their story.

I was extremely cognizant and very much appreciated that your wording when using ‘fans’ was qualified with ‘some’ or ‘lots’ rather than stating it as though all fans were in on this and all thinking the same. I so very much appreciated you for not speaking for all fans, and in particular ‘this’ fan. Cool!!

And you impressed me when Mr. Behr said he knew fan films existed but didn’t know any and had never watched one so his opinion didn’t matter to a hill of beans. And you stepped right in and said “Your opinion matters because you’re a person with an opinion.”

When I heard you say that I physically raised my hand in salute to you being that’s a point of contention lots of us face; [that we have been told so many times by so many donor/supporters & principals in thiswholething, and continue to be told:] "‘you’re not connected to the production, you didn’t donate, you didn’t donate enough, you don’t contribute in any way, you haven’t done anything in your life, so you don’t deserve or have the right to have an opinion on it". Thanks for [saying on tape in your recorded interview with Mr. Behr that everyone has a right to an opinion and each person's opinion matters], Mr. Lane. Very much.

Its painfully ironic that a blogger would support a standard for speaking in public as

"you have to be an investor or a professional expert or prove you are a 'worthy member of society' in order to speak".

The whole point of people building free blogging infrastructures for you and people like you, Mr. Lane, was a belief that you and people like you (i.e. everyone) should have a right to speak EVEN THOUGH you are NOT a financier or insider or member of the elite.

This wasn't an upgrade to Alec's living room for his personal use. This was a commitment to the general public to deliver results if the public funded it. "This is a behind closed doors private project" doesn't cut it.

Re the Carlos mis-directed warehouse. I'd guess that Alec wanted to determine Carlos's source and spread false info to a few people to see what leaked. Or many addresses (1 per person) and one leaked. Don't doubt his need to know who is talking off sides.
