Actually, the comments section has people bringing up what was mis-represented in the blog article and the blogger and a couple of Axanar marines trying to spin it. But overall, the comments section for this one isn't that scary.Comments sections skeer me.
..... and then I stopped reading."they’re actually losing all the little people that make a fanbase.
I'm only three paragraphs in ....
What good is a billion dollar franchise, if the fans can do it better for millions less?
Because that billion-dollar company can back dozens of other projects that would never otherwise see the light of day. A small "independent" studio like Axanar has to go with a known money-making project (i.e., ripping off Star Trek) or risk total collapse with one failed project. CBS/Paramount can use profits from a Star Trek-type megahit to fund a dozen bombs like "Glitter" in hopes of stumbling on the next "Fast & Furious".
Let's see Alec Peters suffer a defeat like "Plan 9 From Outer Space" and stay in business. Oh, wait, yeah ... when's the trial scheduled?
Anyone who uses 'all' or 'fans' or 'Star Trek fans', speaking for or about ST fandom as a whole, (as if we are Ever of one mind on Anything) is clearly uninterested in facts and therefore speaking for effect, self-aggrandizement, click bait, or from hubris, self-importance, & pomposity.
