Good evening, I'm Alice Ter-Cooke, and welcome to Axanar Transparency Theatre.

In tonight's episode, intrepid yet hamstrung defense attorney Ranahan sees the light and begins the process of extricating her firm from this mishigas.

Brought to you by the California Central District and pissed-off donors like you.

Cue music.

If had simply folded up his tent and gone away when the suit hit, he could have got away with the money and probably lived the whole thing down.
I doubt it. If he'd folded when the suit hit then he'd face a string of claims from the donors for money back, and it is likely he didn't have it. That's why I think he had no choice but to fight this when he was offered pro bono help.

I'm speculating of course, but I think the slim chance of victory could well be his only route to coming out unscathed.

Also: I am again roaring with laughter at the latest development regarding this email debacle with Peters. Of course he omitted several emails. Of course he doesn't want them exposed to the public because they'd show what a numbskull piss-poor producer he is and how he shittily handled the financial management of this entire farce. (Sushi, anyone? This unagi is criminally good...) About the only thing less surprising than this finally coming to light is that Rob Burnett is either drinking himself into oblivion because he's finally (FINALLY) realized he's screwed his own pooch by hanging on this long or he's doing the typical Trekkie man-child Burnett-ian thing and tripling down on sticking by Lord Dipshit.

Someone pass the popcorn.

I read this blog post by Don Hillenbrand outlining AP's business dealings and his behavior in the prop collection world. AP seems to leave a path of destruction in his wake wherever he goes with Axanar being his latest fustercluck.

As a matter of fairness, Hillenbrand has a real hate-on for Alec. Not saying it's undeserved, but I wouldn't consider him unbiased.

Just catching up on the latest re: the email issue. I bent over in laughter when I read Jonathan Lane's interview from [LE] the mystery lawyer.
JON: They’re making quite a big deal of it.
LE: That’s because they’re idiots. …
I had that exact same thought, even before I got to the idiots quote.
when I started reading it I had the thought that this person reads like someone I've read before. I know this voice.
When I reached the 'that's because they're idiots' part I said out loud 'ohhh, that's the defendant speaking'.
