So any words from Lord Garth? He got exactly what he wanted. Seems like he'll get off free and clear as far as donors go, as he can't make a two-hour movie and won't have to return the money.
Feels more and more like it was a scam from the start. At least fans got to buy him sushi.

I think that's only wish that CBS/P is likely to grant him.
May-be... but it was couched in language that asserted in various ways that their close relationship with the studio and their professional level of expertise in Trek and the industry gave them an informed knowledge of the viability of the project. In retrospect, that is in no way true. THAT would be grounds for a lawsuit, I think.
If grilled tire treads can be labeled Axanar then some supporters, and Axanar Productions, will call it a victory. They could make some short one-off best of pewpew under the rules, say they paid some unstated restitution without admitting fault, and declare themselves righteous then move on.
Unless the studios still plan to do a special on them.
If he tries to poach on any other media franchise, it won't even get to fundraising is my guess.

Sadly, it's kinda what I expected. CBS/P gave a couple of miles by turning a blind eye to fan films, but LFIM took a parsec. Now the eye of Mordor is on Fan films in general. One bad apple spoiled it for all.

If nothing else, Alec's achievement of banning all Trek actors, staff, screen and fiction writers, and any other associated persons from anything to do with fan films has doubtless garnered him a whole lot of get-the-hell-out-of-here gazes forever from his hoped-for elbow rubbing crowd. Not to mention their counterparts in every other commercial production and their fan film communities (and similar fan activities), who probably are wondering if this precedent is going to come to them too.
No matter what spin victory they try to claim for Axanar, the bruises suffered by everyone else will be remembered and re-expessed long after any Axanar extended trailer has been cheered by Marines and has disappeared. Witness Christian's statement as the first notice of shore waters receding.
