I didn't see a mention of this in the forum. Though we don't know what this related to yet, so maybe it doesn't belong here.

New Star Trek series name “revealed” in trademark application – According to the popular Trademark Ninja blog, the name of Patrick Stewart’s new Star Trek series may have been revealed in a recent trademark application. TV network CBS filed a STAR TREK RELIANTtrademark application on the same day that Patrick Stewart announced he was reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard. The mark is filed in class 41 for services including “a continuing multimedia series featuring drama”. “Suspicious much?” the blog asked, while predicting that CBS will respond by claiming they “regularly file trademarks for all manner of things”. But relatively few Star Trek-related marks are filed by CBS, the blog points out, and all marks in recent years appear to have been used for products, TV shows, games and/or movies. If true, and Star Trek: Reliant is the name of Patrick Stewart’s upcoming series, then spare a thought for Newfoundland resident Darren Hann, who released an unofficial web series in 2012 called Star Trek: Reliant. Each episode of the fan-made show features a clear disclaimer, including a “thank you” to Paramount Pictures and Gene Roddenberry (creator of the original Star Trek series) for allowing the fan-made series to be made. But if an official show is released with that name, could an IP dispute arise?

Reddit has pointed out that Picard was established, in a throwaway line of dialog, to have served on a ship named the Reliant. Could be what this is, could be that Khan thing that's been rumored, could be something else.

If Picard used to serve on Reliant then that would be an odd title for the new series. It has to be a new ship that he is on during the new series, assuming he is still a Captain.

I don't think they'll make Picard a Captain on another ship (The Reliant, in this case) with a new crew and all. I could see them using The Relient as a backdrop for *insert plot device here*, and Picard just happens to be back on board a ship he used to serve on. Who knows what goes through those evil writers minds? LOL

Maybe a preTWOK Reliant. Let the casting suggestions for Terrell, Chekov and Kyle begin. Since Meyer co-created the TWOK+ version of Trek, it makes sense that era would be his project.

CBS also filed two trademarks for 'Star Trek: Destiny' on the same day, one under the same category as Reliant, but a second one for just digital media:

Digital media, namely, pre-recorded digital video discs, digital versatile discs, DVDs, downloadable audio and video recordings, and high definition digital discs featuring drama; Downloadable entertainment programs featuring drama provided via a video-on-demand service

The United States Patent and Trademark office has a handy search engine, which is how I found those.

Picard and Reliant together is like adding two and two and getting five.

A Picard series could have a different actor playing a returned Data as captain of the Enterprise-F and Jean-Luc acting as quasi-consultant.

Reliant could be Khan taking Joachim's advice and being satisfied with the ship and the freedom it represents, and doing something different than seeking vengeance on Kirk. It would be nice to leave Genesis completely out of it if they went that route.

Edit: Destiny does sound more like a title for the Picard series.
