News CBS All Access Coming To Canada

As far as broadcasting it on TV , if we can judge it based on other similar production agreements, then I'd venture to say yes. It's very likely in the contract they signed when they made the deal between production partners and it's likely mandated by the government. And I'm guessing here, but it's also likely Bell negotiated ahead of production for the rights to air it.

I really have no idea what the regulations are around this, so I can't really comment on that. But I did want to mention that I read that Bell recently bought a majority share of the studio where Discovery (and The Expanse, apparently) is filmed. So it's now filmed in a Bell studio, and airs on a Bell specialty channel, and streams on a Bell streaming service. Bell has got its hands in there all over the place! :)

^ Yeah, now to you mention it, I vaguely remember reading something about that in the lead up to the first season. Well, that just shows how firmly Bell's involvement is on this. And I know we talked about studio expansion before, but I wouldn't be surprised if that expansion was partly funded by Bell too, and one they can use on other productions. So, they're pretty well invested in it at this point and seems even more unlikely for them to cede it over to CBS-AA. It doesn't seem quite as simple as everyone thought anymore.

Also, because Canadian taxpayer support is involved through assorted federal programmes...that might be additional leverage to keep DSC where it is on Canadian cable dials.
