Catholic League calls for boycott of Jon Stewart sponsors

Isn't "The Catholic League" just one cranky old guy with a fax machine or something? It's not like the Vatican officially declared a holy war on Jon Stewart or something. This is just the equivalent of SNL's "Church Lady" sending out a press release.

Why does anybody care?

Anyone who watches Stewart knows this is going to get hilarious because these people never learn not to tussle with a grade 1 comedian and satirical bastard :lol:

I love Stewart in Flame War mode.. he can dish it out like no one else and usually the idiots pipe down after the first return volley but if they're really stuck up they will fire back and we get to be at home, watch it and laugh our ass off.

His flames with Fox are legendary and i hope we get something good out of it.. as if Stewart trembles because of a threatened boycout by fanatical religious groups.
 
Oddly enough, I don't think his audience, and therefore a large number of his sponsors, are that closely affiliated with these kinds of religious organisations. I'm sure he's very concerned.
 
The Catholic League is not the equivalent of SNL's Church Lady. Even if it's past its glory days.

However, this seems to be a good time to call for taxation of church property; state licensing and supervision of counseling services provided by churches; abolition of clerical privileges, including the right to perform legally binding marriages; prosecution of faith healers who fail to heal; application of minimum wage and other labor laws to all church-owned enterprises, and so forth.
