Catching up with New Frontier

Selar's wry bedside manner comes straight from her canonical TNG appearance in "The Schizoid Man". I don't find PAD's extrapolations all that wrong at all. I only miss the need to overlook her adoption of the little blind Andorian girl in the AC Crispin TNG novel, "The Eyes of the Beholders".

With what we now know of the Aenar (from ENT), perhaps it's time for a return visit from the now-adult Thala?

Well, now I need to rewatch that episode and watch Dr. Selar more closely since I've read PAD's interpretation of her character in NF and see how it compares. It's been years since I've seen the episode with Ashley Judd as Lefler so I'm going to have to watch that one as well.

Actually, she was in two episodes, Darmok and The Game. But, if I remember correctly she had a fairly small par in Darmok.

Lefler was suppose to appear in "First Duty," but I believe Ashley Judd was busy at the time, so the writers took her out of the story.

I actually have an issue of the NF comic Double Time. It's a pretty good story. I've only read it once and now keep it in a plastic cover. I wonder if it will be worth much later.

Count me in for the comics, I really enjoyed double time, a mini series with the NF crew would be awesome.

Isn't Peter David tied into some exclusive deal with Marvel?? that could upset him writing it??

It's already worth a bit on the second hand market. For a time there, the graphic novel omnibus, "Other Realities", which reprinted "Double Time" and two other ST stories, was easier to find, but there's quite a demand for the original edition of the WildStorm NF comic.

Supposedly the Marvel contract has a loophole that said he could still work on his existing ongoing projects. He has had a preliminary chat with IDW, IIRC, but PAD is a very busy guy.

I actually, got a hand signed copy of DT from Ebay a year or two ago, but I have read it a couple times. I just wanted to read it, and the signed copy was the only one I could find at the time.

I found the first eight New Frontier books at a used book store a few months back and have been making my way through them. So far the first five have been pretty good.

I've been catching up on New Frontier now too. I originally bought many of the books when they first came out but never got around to reading them. The books I'm missing should be arriving soon though, it only took a day of searching online to find a place that had the books I was missing.

I've enjoyed reading them and I am glad I kept them. There were times I was thinking of selling them but I am really glad I kept them. It's kept me busy for the last couple of weeks but it won't be long before I'm all caught up with the series.

The NF series is one of the few Trek books I enjoy going back to again and again. I always feel like I am reading them for the first time even though it could be tenth read-through of the books.

I have the 6 or so to catch up on. Peter David is a great writer. I was missing a few but after a month or so waiting, Amazon finally finally sent the last one I was missing. Reading thru the Vangaurd books now, There's a difference from reading a 200+ plus page book and a 400+ page book.

Ah, New Frontier. I remember reading those first four mini-novels back when they were first released. And although I am always far behind on my Star Trek reading, I have read all of the books through "After the Fall." Waiting for the paperback reprints is no fun. I have "Missing in Action" but have not read it because for some reason I keep thinking it and "After the Fall" are the first two books in a trilogy and I would rather read them all together (despite having already read "After the Fall" once).

When I got "After the Fall," I reread "Being Human," "Gods Above" and "Stone and Anvil" so I would be caught up. And that takes time.

No, Peter David simply signed a contract for three books. It's been awhile been a while since I read it, but I'm pretty anything left over from ATF is tied up in MIA. Have you read the MU novel yet?
