So for the people who have the book, how's the writing? Is Castle really a good writer, or what? :D

For those wondering about Castle's Halloween costume,
there's a clip from the next episode on Hulu, and he's definitely in full-on Malcolm Reynolds gear. Beckett asks him, "Are those suspenders?" I just :guffaw:'ed.
As an added bonus,
The victim this week is found wearing vampire teeth with a wooden stake in his heart. Castle makes a Buffy comment. :D

There's also a line that might make BigFoot squeal like a little girl. :p

I liked this one....even though I knew as soon as I saw that doctor's kid involved in the show that they'd been switched at birth deliberately. Just seemed like the kid had no point otherwise.

I agree with a previous poster though - I wish he'd decided to do more Nikki Heat on his own, instead of because of the $$....and stay with Beckett for reasons other than the mayor.

Maybe he did. Wouldn't it be a nice twist if he LIED about the contract just to stay with her? So now he has to write a second novel on spec (without a contract or promise of publication), or at least pretend to write a second novel and face the music when he doesn't produce one..

Although how many books has GREG COX written in the span of one TV season? hehe Even if some are adaptations of existing things, like a movie novelization or comic book that he has a script and idea for, but still takes time to write and come up with something that's more creative than just putting in all the dialogue verbatim.

But even Castle gets writer's block... and hey if you were Castle... would you rather sit in your apartment writing all day or hang out with a hot detective and play with the real deal?

I want to know when Castle actually finds time to write. He seems to be working full-time for the NYPD.

Sure, I churn out three or four books a year, but I'm not solving homicides at the same time!

we do see him write usually at night when he talking to his daughter. He must just type damn fast and when your basically writting about what your doing all day you should be able to blog or convert a diary or police log into a story if your good, i';d assume.

But still, to be able to write it, edit it, do minor rewrites and then get it published... would still take a while, even more considering he spends most of the day with Beckett and just having fun... I think even one book a year (season) would be fairly do-able for him if he was a normal writer, but something tells me that it'll take him at least the rest of season 2 and probably part of season 3 to finish Book 2 of Nikki Heat.

Well he has plenty of cases to draw from for his next book. If you were Castle, which of the cases we've seen would you adapt for your next book? I think I'd go for the con man story. It was just too damn fun.

That was pretty good... although this episode was pretty interesting too, twists I don't think the average person would see coming. I know I didn't see some of what happened coming. Sure he's got enough source material, but he still needs to actually write it in a way that's entertaining and interesting AND change things so that he doesn't get sued LOL
