Castle and Beckett investigate the murder of an Assistant District Attorney. Meanwhile, Alexis confides a secret to Beckett instead of her father.

I wish they hadn't gone back to the "Castle wondering if he can really trust Alexis" well so soon. It wasn't quite the same as last time, but still, it was a bit annoying.

As for the mystery, I suspected that Scarlett was manipulating Castle when she showed up in his apartment, and as soon as we heard the shots fired, I figured out that she was the real mastermind and was murdering Knox to make him look like the guilty party. I mean, it was just too well-timed, going down right when the cops were outside. And it was implausible that he'd kidnap her and hold her long enough for her to make a phone call, then continue to hold her long enough for the police to arrive, rather than just killing her right off the bat. Really, Castle and Beckett should've seen right through that.

I was disappointed that we didn't see Beckett writing that letter of recommendation for Jessup after all. I mean, he did help solve the case when he saw that the deadbolt wasn't locked.

Jessup was a pretty amusing character. I could almost see him as a recurring informant-type character. I also liked that Alexis sought out Beckett's advice on something, and her torturing Castle about it was fun. And are state prosecutors usually considered "law enforcement officers"? It threw me a bit when the captain referred to the dead lawyer in that way. Usually I think of police in those terms.

Haven't had a chance to watch it yet, too much basketball. I should see it later and then I'll vote.

Ok, now I've watched it and while I won't put it up there with the best the series has had to offer, it wasn't horrible. I loved the bar fight scene and Castle befriending the guy who wanted to be a locksmith. I didn't buy the deadlock not being locked thing though. Who wouldn't deadlock their door in a situation like that, I mean, that was a bit too much. Enjoyable episode and I like watching Castle suffer like that, I just hope they don't overdue that, otherwise he'll loose his arrogant, "I'm the man and don't you forget it" persona they've built up.

The final scene is what makes me love this show just SO much. Especially the very last shot with Nathan's reactions to Alexis' idea of going to Oxford.

That and the bar fight. :D "I was in a bar fight once" immediately reminded me of a couple of Firefly barfights, with the noticeable difference in Castle's reaction to getting punched versus Mal's. :guffaw:

I have a feeling that was what they were actually trying to get people to think of.

BTW- anyone know who the lady was that playe the villian? he looked REALLY familiar but can't place her. Stunningly beautiful.

^ She played an ADA for almost a full season on Law & Order: SVU and was pretty hated for it.

I instantly knew Scarlett was the mastermind when they kept going to that well for sympathy, but it's not like this show is a deep mystery anyway.

Speaking of the bar fight, I did notice Castle was wearing a brown coat. And also, when Beckett asked him "Really! Who won?" he gets immediately punched in the face. Her response, "Oh, lemme guess. Not you." :guffaw:

Best part of this show is to figure out the twist. for me it was when she shot her "pimp" seemed a bit too made up.
