The investigation behind a body found wrapped in a rug on the sidewalk leads Castle and Beckett deep inside the world of New York City politics. The partners discover a world of expensive escorts, arrogant tycoons, corrupt investigators, and the effects of betrayal.

Heh, I immediately suspected it was either the wife or the campaign manager. It turns out both were involved in the murder.

I gave it an average...which is still very good TV, just a bit less for this show.

I've come to the conclusion that we will not be watching this show for the "Crime of the Week" but the characters and their interaction, and that that is okay with me.

Loved Mom finding the bad reviews. And both Castle and daughter knowing she was making a concerted effort to track down the dubious ones...then dismissing all "his" fears.

The interplay at the end was top notch, almost boosted it to Above Average for that scene at the bookstore alone.

This series starting to get quotable! :wtf:
"You have the bridge, Number One!"
"Guess who's got a date with a prostitute?"

I like that.

Fun ep. And yeah, I don't really care much for the murder plots, but I do seriously enjoy the character interactions.

Just watched the ep, like the person above, I watch for the characters, not the plot, i've seen the plot all before, nothing new here, but it is the characters that make the show. I do wish they'd do some different stuff though, different kind of crimes to investigate instead of just murders each week.

Is this show filmed in LA? The police station exterior looks a lot like the NYPD Blue one. Of course, since they've never actually filmed a scene outside the station, it could just be an establishing shot they can lift from anywhere.

Looks like NY to me, they showed one of the bridges I think. Also, they did film outside in this episode, they showed them walking down the streets, and it certainly looks like NY to me.

In an interview, Fillion said he had been in New York for "the past few months filming a new show"

And that interview was from a while back, so I'd assume he was talking about Castle.

Does anybody feel like the daughter is becoming like Penny from inspector gadget? She's always the spark that solves the case.

Well this is fast... Does "complete first season" imply a second season?

I don't really follow the plot. I just watch it to see Nathan.

There really isn't a plot. Somebody dies, they find out who killed that person.

Oh, okay. So I'm not really missing anything when I fast foward.

I think the arc can be summed up like this.

Somebody dies,
Witty banter b/w Castle and lady detective
They do some interviewing
More witty banter
Some misdirection
Castle goes to his daughter for advice
Daughter provides a clue
Castle and detective solves the murder.
More witty banter.

Gotta tell ya. I *love* that daughter. If I were a dad, she's just what I would want to have for Daddy's Little Princess.

The daughter is too perfect. They're just setting it up so she'll be the big bad at the end.
