Casting sheet for imaginary Cage crew remake TV series

Rhona Mitra isn't a bad choice The.

It's more on line with the type of casting Number One needs.

24's Roger Cross is my choice for Pike's Security Chief. He's also guested on Trek before.

And I'd have an Andorian Chief Engineer

Still deciding on an actor; Combs set the bar high.

The Menagerie is canon. Is The Cage?

Further, there are a lot of canon things that were spoken in the original footage that have been disregarded. The time barrier? Get used to a woman on the bridge? Almost Spock's entire character? Other side of the galaxy?

If you want to actually make a series set on Pike's Enterprise, take the original casting sheet, disregard the actual casting, and make it good.

And to those of you who have cast a transporter chief, there was a character who was the transporter chief. He was a grizzled, portly-ish fella who's name was Pitcairn.

I picked "Mr Eko" as my Chief Engineer because I wanted to lay against type, as you would expect someone his size to be cast as Security Chief. But, I think he would really work in the role, especially if he's using his natural accent. But, I like the idea of an Andorian on board, since coming just after the Archer era... :techman:

Mine is a slender, gorgeous lady with a wryly classic sense of humor... :p

And I'm totally not even worried about "canon". Anyone I cast isn't based on looks, or whether it fits the "ethnic" profile. I just cast the actors and actresses I think would work for the role... :techman:

I think a transporter chief as part of the main cast is a bit excessive; maybe a recurring guest star like O'Brien but not a main character.

The main players should be:

Captain Pike

Doctor Boyce

Number One

Mister Spock

Lieutenant Tyler

Chief Engineer

Security Officer

And MAYBE Comm Officer

That's already 8 characters.

The Yeoman and Transporter chief should be guest stars.

I would be down with a big dude as security chief though; after 4 seasons of Martin Short aka Reed.

Maybe Yeoman Colt could be bumped up to Communications Officer.

Dude, Caucasian includes everone from Dolf Lungren to Kal Penn. There is no specific appearance for that. "Black " and "Hispanic" have a pretty wide range too. I know hispanics and blacks with Majel's complexion. With so little information about Number One, Majel could be playing a character who's not "white" or even human. We know much more about Uhura ,so an actress of African descent is required.

I know hispanics that would look like Majel too.

The point is

Gina Torres doesnt:

I mean it's not even close.

Majel played a character with that appearance. Torres doesn't have it.
Torres isn't my choice.

I agree with Maestro, cast based on the call sheet not the previous actor.

Oh, nice idea! The Yeoman rank is pretty pointless, anyway. Good thinking! :techman:

And Kane Steel the only issue I would have with Eko-actor being the Security Badass is because of the inevitable comparisons to Worf. But, don't get me wrong. He would be freakin' hard as the Security Chief. Talk about kicking some Klingon ass...

^ Thanks. I feel the same way about yeomans.

For what it's worth, I think casting someone whose ethnicity best matches the original actor's matters less than casting someone who can play the part well. Gina Torres is someone I can definitely see pulling off the role of Number One successfully.

José Tyler should also be someone who looks a bit more Latin, though maybe still with fair hair. Anyone know any decent Hispanic/Latino actors with fair hair?

Please I would dump this big dude for 5,5 feet Vulcan female as Security Chief anytime.. Why? Vulcan are 3times stronger then humans;).

I think a Tellarite Chief Engineer would be awesome. We haven't seen enough of the Tellarites, and thanks to ENT, they don't look completely ridiculous anymore.

It wouldn't work.

Colt only appears during "The Cage" and after it.

After the events of Rigel.

In the years prior to that, Pike had a different Yeoman.. who died in Rigel.

So Colt shouldn't even be part of the cast if we start from the beginning of Pike's Captaincy.

Odo, Tuvok and Reed felt more like investigators and detectives than kickass security chiefs.

Someone as badass as Worf would be long due.

We already have Spock.

And it's too soon after T'pol for another vulcan.

We don't need 2 emotionless crewmembers (even if Spock is still getting his emotions under control).

I wouldn't want to see this face every week.

Not to mention the insults as compliments would get tiring after a while.

Andorians look cooler and would probably have a better audience appeal.

They would, yes, but since this isn't a real show and we're not Hollywood producers, we don't have to worry about audience appeal. :p

I choose to ignore "Canon" in favor of imagination. :p

Wasn't there a comic book series called Star Trek: Early Voyages published by Marvel Comics. This series showcases the adventures of the Enterprise under the command of Captain Christopher Pike. Yeoman Colt featured heavily in the series and i think she was Communications Officer. Anyway i like having Colt having big part serving as a link between the bridge, the crew and audience.

Clearly there has be some kind of reboot involved smilier to Battlestar Galactica to make this work..

There was. Even though the comics aren't canon... though it could be assumed those events happened after "The Cage" since it didn't show the origins.

There doesn't have to be. Adhering to canon would work too.

But with all the changes you propose, then it would have to be a reboot.

However, since there's already a Trek reboot of sorts (in the films), I'd rather avoid the confusion of having another.

I prefer having this in the Prime timeline.
