Case dismissed! Discovery and Tardigrade game "not similar"

I really hope, that Anas sues the shit out of CBS and the others. I recently rewatched S1 of Discovery and i still cant believe that a big portion of storytelling from the whole season is just a blatant rip-off...

Such a subpar tv show, its just sad...

Evidence? Because so far the evidence for the timeline doesn't line up.

Regardless of opinions on DISCO the evidence isn't there. I mean, he can sue all he wants. Doesn't mean he will win.

Uh none of the story in Discovery is copying from Anas's game.

Here's the summary from the dev's official blog:
http://anas-tronaut.blogspot.com/2016/06/tardigrades.html
In our understanding of time, it is the year 20,000 BC where civilizations are about to discover galactic travel through the latest technology of their time. Earth was different back then. The deserts of south Egypt and Ethiopia are green and full of advanced technology.

Carter is a botanist at the space station Marsi-3 orbiting Jupiter. Along with his girlfriend Alex, and your guidance, they might be able to witness their civilization shifting into a higher type.

Please tell me, which of these elements were copied in Discovery?

Guys, CBS already admitted that they copied a portion of his story. That alone is a good reason to criticize the show, along with the mediocre acting performances and storytelling

Say what you want, but this guy was in court with the CBS lawyers:

Id rather believe him than people on here who dont even have access to the court files...

I'd rather have an unbiased source. This is the guy who thinks CBS stole from him. He's probably lying to gather support.

None of the official words released from the case has mentions CBS admitting they stole anything.

I recently wrote a huge angry rant about this on reddit in response to another person confidently spreading that particular lie : Anas Abdin gave an interview in which he claimed that CBS "admitted" to copying his game (concept). He did that by misrepresenting (either due to inability to understand the intricacies of his lawsuit, or on purpose) what the terms "scène à faire" and "de minimis" mean and how they were used CBS' lawyer(s) in their motion to dismiss.

CBS did not "admit" to copying Anas Abdin's work, they did the exact opposite, arguing that the whole case should be thrown out with prejudice regarding all four of his claims, since his whole case is basically claiming plagiarism by cobbling together a bunch of random surface level similarities, and that Abdin's case is frivolous besides since the tardigrade is not an original concept of his, but a real life animal often mentioned for its ability to survive in space, and is therefore not even something that can be copyright protected.

P.S.: Since you're talking about court documents in another reply, you do know that the motion to dismiss (what Abdin claims has CBS admitting they stole from him) is available online? That's how I know Abdin isn't telling the truth here.

And also, as far as I know nobody has been in a court room yet. We're still in the filing stage. The "lawsuit proper" hasn't even begun yet.

Nope. Biased sources. People will twist the facts to suit their narrative. CBS would have settled out of court. Instead, they are spending money going through court proceedings and filings.

Waste of money if they admitted anything.

You're entitled to your opinion on the merits of the court case, but it's obvious from your first post that you arrived at the position you did not because of the facts of the case (which you got wrong), but because of your negative feelings about the show. Which, whatever, but you now seem determined to go on a run pushing people's buttons over it. Maybe just dial it down a bit, ok?

It’s not my intent to push any buttons (at least not only for the sake of pushing buttons). As i said before, we dont have access to any documents of this case. You either believe that the plaintiff has a case or you don’t.

All i know is that IP cases have been won (or at least settled) with way less obvious similarities.

But we do have access to some documents of the case. Including the one that proves Abdin's claim about CBS admitting they copied him is nonsense. As someone else already pointed out.
