Carrier Concept sketch

Just a little something I threw together. I was trying to make something else, but THIS emerged from my doodling, so I developed it a bit.

I was intrigued by the idea of something with an ENORMOUS schnozzz. And a pair or quad of engines set WAY far to the back.

Why would it have such a gigantic saucer? I decided, well, it must be a launch/recovery and transport area for shuttles, whatever.

Back in the day, 1976 to be precise, the Estes model rocket company released the USS Atlantis as a TOS carrier concept.

That Atlantis is intriguing, to say the least. I remember that model rocket.

I think if the nose could be developed, with enough detail so that it no longer looks like... well, a cardboard model rocket, but without getting carried away and mucking up the pure design elements, we could REALLY have something there.

Spiffy! One can almost see a sort of lineage from the Botany Bay to this design.

One question, though: looking at the thread title, is this intended to be a carrier of some kind? Or just a really cool ship?

If a carrier, I'm curious about the functionality. I suppose there could be plenty of space along the ventral hull for drop ship type launchers.

With apologies to the OP for possibly highjacking the thread, I fitted this thing out as an "assault transport" as opposed to a carrier and it actually does have "drop ship" doors on the ventral hull (see this pic). The aft end has a standard shuttle bay.
