Carolyn Seymour

Rear Admiral
Rear Admiral
I wish they'd used her more in Trek over the years (maybe a regular character) She has such a fantastic voice and played smug Romulan's better than anyone else

She was very creepy as the governess in Voyager too

Always loved Carolyn Seymour, great actress

I like the actress a lot, she's very talented. I loved her Romulan roles and would've loved to have seen more done with Janeway's gothic novel holoprogram.
I watched the Brit 70s post apocalyptic series Survivors last year, Seymour has a lead role in the first season, which was the best part of the series anyways.

Genevieve Bujold was considered for Janeway.

Kor

I thought she was more than considered? I thought she was hired and fired/quit (not clear which).

There were other actresses who auditioned. Bujold got it, quit, Kate auditions again, gets it

I think Mulgrew was always in the short list after her first audition, but some people were definitely lobbying for Susan Gibney for some reason.

Thanks for the link, because I wasn't going to know who Carolyn Seymour was, without looking her up. I loved her in TNG! STAR TREK has been blessed from the beginning with great character actors and memorable performances. I'm sure Ms. Seymour is probably a sweet lady, but yes, she always seems to play someone you just love to hate! Unfortunately, as Subcommander Taris, she just didn't have enough to do or work with to comment extensively on. But that's where casting becomes so important ... SHE made the part memorable, nothing else. And that's a mark of a great entertainer.

^ He was only saying she's not some huge name everyone should know. I can understand if one wrote "Kate Mulgrew" or "Marina Sirtis" and accepting most would know who they are. The name was familar to me but I still had to click on your link to make sure.

No reason to be a dick about it. Not the first time I've seen it either.

I read sarcasm in the post from 2takesfrakes

If that was not the case, my bad

What? "Sarcastic"??? Who ... ME???

:rommie:>>SNORT!!!<<

I've been known to be, on occassion ... but not in this thread. Ethros and I have not always seen eye-to-eye in our infrequent interactions, but he was quite correct in his interpretation. And let me reiterate that Carolyn Seymour truly deserves her own fan-recognition on this site. STAR TREK has benefitted from a multitude of great talent and Ms. Seymour is a good case-in-point. She's a gifted performer and I really do enjoy seeing her in TNG.
