Carina Class Explorer

I'd scale down the ship, since to me the overall features seem to indicate a slightly smaller ship. Except for the bridge anyway, but that can be fixed without losing the overall feel.

How would it look if you just scaled the nacelles down?

probably not good :ouch:

I scaled it down just now . . . I don't want it to be too small of a ship so I made it just 87.7% of the previous size
it still looks fine at that size

I agree either the whole ship or just the nacelles would look better scaled down a tad :) :techman:

here's the resized pic with a little bit of work on the saucer details
I think the generally accepted length of the Gal is 642m which is what I'm using
I also put in an approximation of a type 6 shuttle and a runabout

Id go with that size :) :techman:

I like the nacelles just fine--it has a souped up look. Something you might do with another design. Have the uppermost section even higher, ith the saucer's bridge atop that, with nacelle supports that reach out and down with the secondary hull nacelle supports reaching out and up.

Very cool and interesting design. Lots of new touches while maintaining a TNG feel. I can't help but see a distinct outline of today's space shuttle in the top view. That's not a bad thing, just a shape I notice and think adds to the overall design.

started working on the bottom side

remember I'm doing this in AutoCAD so the lines aren't going to be pretty like Illustrator :p

Dude.

Dude!

DUDEI

At first I was like >_>

Then I was like O_O

Then I was like ;_;

Or, written with more sanity, I discovered the thread and wasn't sure about the design. In about 40 seconds I went from not sure to I MUST BUILD THIS. Then I discovered someone else was already on the job and became sad.

That is one fantastic starship. I'll take 12, or a baker's dozen if available.
