Carey Mulligan on Letterman

Umm, given the recent scandals, not literally.

She was promoting her new film, 'An Education', and mentioned she will be in Oliver Stone's 'Wall Street 2'.

She had really short hair, and is still cute. :)

Here's a blog that includes a video of the appearance (I know it's iffy posting this but it's not as if they're putting this on DVD anytime soon).

The LA Times reviewed this appearance and pretty well crowns her a new star - not only that but the new Audrey Hepburn! I actually can't argue with that. David's in pretty good form, too.

It's hard to believe this is Sally Sparrow!

The new Audrey Hepburn? Hardly. I adore Carey Mulligan but she's no Hepburn.

I don't know if I agree with that. She has the same elfin, impish personality. And frankly she's a heck of a lot more Audrey-like than Jennifer Love Hewitt was.

They keep threat-er-promising to make another Audrey Hepburn biopic. If it had been made 6 years years ago I would have pushed for Audrey Tautou for the part. But I'd probably say Carey Mulligan would make an interesting choice (though the no-brainer is Emmy Rossom who actually played a teenaged Audrey in the Hewitt film).

I agree Hewitt wasn't a good Hepburn (and I actually saw that movie when it was aired). Additionally, I think Tautou is a much closer Hepburn than Mulligan. I was trying to think of her last night to set her as a counterexample, but my brain refused to work.
