Cardboard Gumbo

We all know that Shatner could chew a good scene...he is legendary at doing it. But other TREK regulars, or guests, could chew the scenery too. What are some of the more 'over the top' scene chewing performances in the 40 years or so of Star Trek??? And I don't mean "GOOD" examples..I mean where the acting was so overboard, you cringed when you saw it and can't bare to see it again!

All of Steven Berkoff's performance in Business as Usual.

I can totally buy Armin Shimerman in a rubber mask with huge ears as a Ferengi... and yet I'm completely aware Berkoff is thesping it up :p

Honourable mention to Betty Muramoto in TNG's Deja Q as the Bre'el IV scientist who needs to breathe in between every word and EMPHasise EVery WOrd with exaggerated hand movements. Tsk tsk tsk.

As much as I generally love Avery Brooks...

I think he screwed up on what should've been two of his biggest moments: "Rapture" and "Far Beyond the Stars." In both cases, he pushed those scenes severely over the top.

Apollo in the TOS ep Who Mourns For Adonis? (did I spell that right?) I know he was s'posed to be a God but lordy, spare me the histrionics. And that God-awful actress who played the title character in TNG Ariel-I flinch everytime I see it.

Oh, I totally agree with you on that one, the girl from Ariel 1...

I also think that, yes, Delanci hammed it up more than usual in the second Q episode when he tried to get Riker to join

And both CROSBY and SIRTIS were on 'acting overdrive' during ENCOUNTER AR FARPOINT...awful I dare say!!!
