For whatever reason, Tig Notaro popped in my head as someone I could see being a good veteran soldier. She's already good at replacing problematic actors.
Cast Brianna Hildebrand as Dune's sister.
But if you bring the sister on then you got people wondering when Cara will show up for a visit.
She's in jail on some Pro-Empire splinter world.
Sounds like a job for Mando to break her out. People would be speculating that episode in the future.
He tried. But they moved her. Someday he'll get her out...someday.
They will not remake the sequels, they will not remake the originals.
Star Wars isn't anything remotely like Halloween or Terminator.
They will just keep adding and expanding. Or, more cynically, just repeating themselves while calling it "new content."
Nothing will ever be removed or rewritten. Period.

Why do you say that? I thought we would never see the day someone tried to recast characters like Kirk and Spock and we are now onto our third versions of them. It won't happen until they feel like they can do nothing new in the current universe. At some point though they will see it as a means of bringing in new fans who look at the old stuff as dated and no longer relevant.
The Sequels have already gotten to that place. None of the characters can match the classic ones in terms of fame. This was also true of the prequels but at least some of the prequel characters were just younger versions of the Classic characters.
In terms of becoming Iconic with the newer stuff I think you could make that argument maybe with only 3 characters. Mando, Baby Yoda and Ahsoka. Also Thrawn I suppose. Maybe I would add Darth Maul as well. Though Maul's appeal is sort of in the same vein of Bobba Fett from the past in that he is iconic mostly for just looking cool. Otherwise it's just one big fight and some decent moments in the Clone Wars

I'm not saying it's impossible that they'll eventually go back to that well (this is the same company making progressively more terrible live action remakes of it's old animated classics after all) but I just don't see them even thinking about going anywhere near that anytime soon. One of the main advantages of the Star Wars franchise is that it has vast potential in terms of scope and doesn't necessarily need to be tied to the original characters in every instance. So there's no pressing need, plus some of the most positive critical and audience responses they've gotten since the buyout has been for stuff that goes off and does it's own thing anyway.
But also just as a general rule; it's almost never a good idea to directly remake a GOOD movie. That's just setting yourself up for failure. If you're going to remake anything, remake something that had a good idea behind it, but flawed execution and has since fallen between the cracks and out of mind. No I'm not talking about the ST, that's just dumb. The Ewok movies on the other hand have some potential for a modern remake. That and the Droids cartoon.

I think they should just keep pushing on the newer show stuff. They clearly found an innovative niche and should capitalize on it like Lucas would. I would welcome a remake and think it would be fun to do with Hayden and Ewan, but that's just me. To my mind, a remake takes nothing away from the original, and can be enjoyable in its own right.
