Cara Dune

Kill off Han Solo. Harrison Ford wants it and it gives something to end on. Luke leaves. Won't show up until cameo or small role in movie 3.
This would be repeating some of the same mistakes of the ST.

Solo had to die because frankly I don't think Ford does any of it unless he finally gets his wish. Luke would be gone from the second movie and only have a small role in the third one. A little more engaging that Yoda in Return of Jedi but sort in that ballpark.

Agreed. I still find Solo's death moving in TFA. I know many disagree with that decision but it's one that I find thematically satisfying. Also, if the Part 1 has the big three being more interactive then it could work better as well.

I don't have a problem with Solo dying but personally I felt like it was a little too soon. Same thing with Luke ghosting. We knew that was his ultimate endpoint but I would have had that happen in Episode IX at the earliest. Though really the issue is not having Luke and Han together again before Han's death.

Episode VII should have ended the way Mandalorian season 2 did.

I also like the Han Solo death. Granted IMO out of all the sequels The Force Awakens is also the best of them. Even though we would have been screwed out of seeing Luke and Han share some scenes together, the sequels could have been saved if the second movie had lots to do with Luke and Leia together and maybe Luke still dying at the end.

What we didn't need was the most boring space chase ever, side adventure to Space Vegas or the terrible character of Admiral Holdo. Who was not just badly written but I never understood why she was in this movie taking screen time away from Leia. Even if you wanted some sort of mutiny story it makes better if Leia is in the thick of it and not off taking a nap. if you want to build up the new character have the conflict center a lot around Poe and Finn. I mean imagine it. Finn having to embrace some of his storm trooper instincts to become a soldier again. Poe going up against a Woman he respects and a man he is in love with and has feelings for. To me that would be some exciting drama were the conflict is coming from within. Meanwhile Luke instead of being "Fuck the force" is like pushing Rey hard. Maybe even harder than Yodo ever did to him because he looks at her as a means of fixing the mistake he caused with Ben. Instead of being a hermit living on some rock he has been off looking for someone young and also a Jedi that can help stop him from fully taking over the New Republic again which to me I would have never destroyed in Force Awakens.

Semi-annoying and stirring little emotions?

I only halfway kid, but Season 2 left a lot to be desired on my part, as it felt like it traded on the emotion of seeing Luke while not hitting me in any emotional way with the main characters. So, while OK, I definitely find TLJ more emotionally moving in it's ending.

This is why I think Poe should stay dead. Finn as the source of conflict/mutiny would make more sense to me because of the inherent distrust of a former stormtrooper.

If Ford is going to do only one movie though you basically got to do it in movie 1. Frankly I was surprised he even came back for a cameo in the third movie but totally not surprised that he didn't even bother to get a matching haircut with what it looked like when he died.

According to Ford he didn't even ask for Han to be killed off in TFA like he wanted in the OT, the writers planned it already.

Ford could be just saying that so it doesn't look like they caved into a demand which might look bad for both parties or maybe it was just anticipated. from past statements. Maybe even a message passed onto them from his agent or something like that. Either way you got to know going in if your banking on him having a big role in movie II and yet you don't got him locked up for it in contract form then the safe bet is to kill him.

Besides one of the classic characters needed to die at some point to show the passing of the guard. Even Trek killed Spock and with a replacement in place with Saavik. Granted things played out differently than expected but it's very possible Saavik would have continued on as being just as important as the old characters had they hadn't needed to recast. And the studio wasn't so scarred of letting Spock die for real in Khan.

That's true but in the past the prospect of ever being in another SW movie was seen as something not likely to happen. So no need to be diplomatic. Until Disney bought the rights I think the thoughts of ever seeing more movies seemed unlikely. At least until George Lucas died someday.

Much like how there are people somewhere in Hollywood I am sure who wake up everyday and the first thing they do is check the news to see if Robert Zemeckis and Bob Gale have died yet so they can finally getting their hands on that IP and make a reboot.

If they wanted Rey to he a skywalker then she should have married a Skywalker.

Actually, the movie would have been way funnier if she married Ben, Luke and Leia at the same time without any one noticing for half th movie. Mm

I hope that if they do reboot the universe it has lots more Grogu in it. Grogu is the savior of the Jedi Order because he learned about honor in away that avoided the mistakes of the past.

Rey and Ben fall in love and agree to protect Grogu until he is old enough to rebuild the Jedi Order So they all go and live on the Skywalker farm until that day is ready. You are now setting up something to pay off in a hundred years when we see what impact Grogu had on the universe.

Luke, Leia and Han are in space heaven.

Finn and Poe are married with important jobs in the government Lando is President of the New Republic.

Chewbacca is captain of the Millennium Falcon with Rose Tico as his first mate and The Droids as part of the crew.

This isn't the fan fiction forum.

I suppose they could use the World Between Worlds to show what happens if other choices are made (Legends timeline) and show that that timeline is much worse off for the Galaxy. Galactic scale destruction that the First Order was not able to achieve. Sure things may be better for the Skywalker clan and the Jedi by 35 ABY, but the Galaxy at large is a total mess.
