The production values look cheap by today's standards but it was a good show.

Never heard of it.
It was a cheesy short-lived show in the 1980s, with a post-apocalyptic setting. It was supposed to be more grownup-oriented, but part of the appeal was the crappy tie-in toy that was supposed to interact with the TV but never really worked right.

I don't remember the original airing here (if it did, I didn't see it) but I remember hearing about it in the mid 90s and being somewhat interested as I'd heard JMS was involved and had just come off watching Babylon 5.

Just for clarification, the guy speaking in @RAMA's trailer is the same guy who played Captain Power in the original series. He left acting and became a real estate agent.

Ah yes, real estate... the field you go into when you can't find another job in your preferred field.

Captain Power is a show that i loved as a kid. watching it as an adult though... all i see are the flaws and cheesiness.

The show had some big names attached to it. It was one of the first to use CGI melded with live action on TV. It had what was considered "adult" storylines for a weekend kid's show.

It ran concurrently with STNG in 1987-88.

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future
was created by Gary Goddard and Anthony "Tony" Christopher (neither of whom actually wrote any of the stories) and developed by Marc Scott Zicree, with J. Michael Straczynski becoming de facto head writer.

The series will be appearing at Comic-Con.
I've never watched the original show before, is it worth watching? I'd honestly never even heard of it until some of the earlier discussions on the boards.

It's quite honestly cheesy. Most of the purpose behind it was to sell interactive toys. You'd have certain parts of the show with snow-like noise where you'd shoot at it and have your toy respond to it as if it were hit and such. They'd beep and shake, with parts even falling off if I remember. So for the show itself, nah, I wouldn't say it's worth watching. Some of the acting was fairly terrible.

This makes me curious if they'll be bringing back the toys too, or if this time around it will just purely be a show
