I watched the new JJ movie,
I thought it was very good but New Kirk was pretty much a punching bag through most of the film. It was one embarrassing beat down after another

Very true.
Kirk is the baddest badass of all the captains.
My all time favorite moment is definitely when he defeats Khan at the end of "Space Seed". This is simply because before he gives Khan the epic beat down at the end of the episode, he has already gone through dealing with life support being cut off the bridge and a decompression chamber...yet he still somehow defeats a guy who should be genetically superior to him in not only wits, but physical strength as well. I don't care how tough the bar thingy was Kirk used to knock him out with, it was still pretty badass considering all the crap Kirk had been through up to that point.
Now for some mental ass-kicking (because Kirk can somehow use his brains as well as brawn lol), I just finished rewatching "A Taste of Armageddon" and couldn't help grinning at Kirk's 'negotiation tactics' (namely badass posturing, not even really much actual ass kicking at all). I love Picard and all, but I'd like to see him try to force two warring planets to put away their video game computers and realistically duke it out.
No wonder he doesn't believe in the 'no-win scenario'. This guy somehow never really loses.

That was indeed a minor tactical error... Here's how that combat move was supposed to go:
Kirk kicks it! I mean Kirk really kicks it, like Superman-Man-Of-Steel/LukeSkywalker style moments. Like when Kirk took on Spock hand to hand and gave him a serious beat down.Or Kirk in Wrath was like KHHHAAAAAANNN!

This thread will be basically about the most astonishing kick butt moments in Kirk history, animated series spaceship battles also included

Let's remember a few things here. Captain Tracy overpowered and TKO'd Kirk, shot for shot in their first go-round. Now, looking back, Kirk was recovering from a knockout blow to the head when he tried to be a hero, and Tracy was a head taller and a true heavyweight...but Kirk only edged him in the rematch. For me, the brilliance was his over-the-top delivery of "We The People..." after such a physically demanding episode.
I like the "out of nowhere" dropkick Kirk uses on the Clantons to cap Spectre of the Gun and the wrestling tactics he used on Khan.

How about the five seconds it took him to take out Mirror Mirror Sulu? Draw him over to the bed, grab the blade and arm, yank him across bed and chop him. Might be the shortest fight in history.
