Even the Zemos? I thought they were unconnected to the Skull.

They're one of the reasons I said "virtually" - though being fellow Nazis, they're obviously somewhat similar.

i saw a report that the Howling Commandos will appear. this does beg the question: who will lead them when Nick Fury's a black guy and the US Army was segragated in WW2..?

Marvel's Tuskegee Howling Commandos, mmm yea ill leave it there...anyways maybe they'll just appear but not have any real presence, except maybe in a more calvary capacity.

Howard Stark to have a role in Captain America. Probably not same actor seen as Tony's father in news footage during IM:2 though.

Jon Favreau has confirmed with MTV News that the character Howard Stark, father of "Iron Man" Tony Stark, will appear in Joe Johnston’s "Captain America: The First Avenger".
"Mad Men" star John Slattery plays Howard Stark in "Iron Man 2", a character who appears via a 1970's Stark Expo presentation video shot on a film reel that Nick Fury gives to Tony. A younger version of the character is expected to appear during the WW2 sequences in 'America'.

Spoiler: Howard Stark in "Captain America"

Howard Stark plays a significant role in Captain America, but I was under the impression John Slattery, who plays him in Iron Man 2, would also reprise the role in Captain America. I guess not, but Slattery's Howard Stark looked like mid-40's if that 16mm film was done in the 70's, so if Captain America takes place in the 40's, that must make Howard Stark... a teenager? Unless he was mid-50's in that 16mm reel, which would make him early 20's in Captain America, which is strange because I would have guessed he was older during the events of Captain America.

I assume they'll recast and he'll be some junior working on super-soldier program who probably makes some massive breakthrough (maybe the material that the shield is made from?).

Little surprised about this character that Zola is in the movie.

British thesp Toby Jones ("Infamous," "The Mist," "W.," "Frost/Nixon") is in final negotiations to portray the villainous scientist Arnim Zola in Marvel Studios’ “Captain America: The First Avenger" reports Heat Vision.
In the comics Zola is a biochemist who became one of the world's first genetic engineers and worked under Hitler and Red Skull, the latter financing some of Zola's experiments. Zola survived the war by transferring his mental essence into a robot.

Kinda makes me wonder if he'll still be human during the movie and more fantasitc of mental transferrance into a robot is a set up to use him in an Avengers movie.

Huh, Zola was the one who saved the Skull when he "died" for the first time and gave him a new superpowered body cloned from Rogers' DNA. Perhaps this is to set up the "Captain America no more!" storyline where Skull-As-Rogers first appeared?

Maybe as an mythology nod they can say he worked with Nathaniel Essex (Mr Sinister) and Herbert Edgar Wyndham (High Evolutionary).

translating well to a live action character without some massive changes

of course he likely would be completely human in the first movie anyway so it's a moot point.

Eh, just make him a hologram projected by a computer that has his brain put in it so he looks the same as when he was human.

OR

Just make him a robot with a "Brain in a Jar" at the core. Like Cain from Robocop 2.

It can work.

Hopefully better than Fox throwing in every possible mutant into their X-Men movies even if they don't fit the plot just so they can keep the spinoff rights to them for movies they'll never make.

they said the Invaders will appear and i've heard a rumour the Howling Commandos appear. and Fury's a cast-iron certainty for at least one appearance in the present-day scenes. IIRC, there was a mention of 7 Invaders...
