I'm excited. Everything about the movie so far, Joe Johnston, Chris Evans, has all been very middle of the road, very meh. This is the first news that has made me sit up and take notice.
Now if they could only do something about the goofy "First Avenger..." title...

I agree about Johnston. He does okay work. Nothing spectacular but the job will be done regardless.
Bringing Joss in adds a whole new layer.
With Nolan overseeing Superman and now Joss looking over the Captain America script I have a little more confidence in some of these projects.

This is in regards to what I'm hearing about mentions of Cap related material in Iron Man 2.

I've heard two things at minimum are mentioned.
- Agent Coulson asks Tony if he knows what this[shield] is and its importance
- That Black Widow utilizes it a minor way during a fight sequence. If anyone gets a screengrab of that like the Thor image at post-credits I'd like to see that.

Awesome. I know some people will consider this typecasting, but Weaving just exudes menace when he wants to--and we know he works well behind a mask.

They could have done worse. But compared to say, casting Heath Ledger as The Joker or Jeff Bridges as Obidiah in Iron Man it seems a little unimaginative.

Oh, god. Imagine if he DOES call Cap "Mr. Rogers". That will be HILARIOUS for the double-meaning.
Anywho, I wanted Baron Zemo to be the bad guy to set up the family legacy. That way Baron Zemo can be in this movie, then killed off and then his descendant can be a villain in Avengers.

There was never any chance that the villain wasn't going to be the Red Skull. He dominates Cap's rogues gallery - virtually every other decent villain Cap has is connected to him in some way.
