I guess you misunderstood my statement. I began the sentence with "my colleague" in reference to the poster, not the actor. Thanks for your opinion.
I consider Sybok to be canon in spite of things Roddenberry said back in 1989, but his ass isn't going to be in the next TREK film. 
He wasn't a terribly well-received character in a film that was about as popular as a head cold. There hasn't been a solitary mention of him since 1989. Call it an educated guess, but there WON'T be a Sybok in the new film. Unless there's another Vulcan survivor of Nero's apocalypse who happens to have the same name.
That said...BLUE ORIONS? What are you smoking? I know they were used in TAS, but TAS is notorious for its suspended state of canon. I wouldn't take some things in the animated show very seriously. Now, if you had said Q would show up disguised as Edith Keeler and have wild sex with the Enterprise crew? I might believe you.

Those with actual inside knowledge of the production find stuff like cj1video's fabrications deeply annoying. This is all easily dismissed out of hand if one has read the script.
I once heard a rumor on the Web that Chris Pine will wear a giant codpiece in the next movie. Must be true. The source seemed pretty solid and claimed to be connected to J.J. Abrams through a stalker.
