Caprica is gone, Is SGU Next?

Not only did Syfy cancel Caprica but removed the remain episodes off the schedule TBD airdate.

Sounds like there clearing Tuesday for something else. So if SGU does get canceled does this mean we will have to wait to see the rest of the already produced season? Even though the episodes are already made, Syfy needs something to make money on Tuesday nights, so we may have to wait to see the rest if the show is cancelled.

Rating were up for Cloverdale, but there was no good competition that night, let us hope we can see the rest of the season.

Ratings may be up for Cloverdale, but they may be down next week after those people saw Cloverdale, the question is, will people come back after that crapfest of an episode?

IF SCIFI cancels SGU, I dearly hope they let them air all of Season 2, with no breaks. At least we'd have that. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets canceled at this point though, it just wouldn't surprise me.

It is next! Remember the new BSG pilot has been ordered. SyFy will have it's space ship show, so there won't be any need for SGU, which struggles to hold its audience together.

I don't see how, Tuesday is still the wrong night to air it, and ratings have been fluctuating, but on the whole pretty low.

Has anyone seen production estimates per episode of either SGU or Caprica? I wouldn't be surprised if SGU is a less expensive show than Caprica, since most of each episode takes place on the existing Destiny sets and most of the show doesn't include involved special effects shots, etc. If it is considerably less expensive as a result, that might result in Syfy giving SGU a little bit more time before making a determination. That'd probably only be a delayed decision, though, since it doesn't change the underlying fact that Tuesday is not a good night for this show to be airing.

SGU costs more than SGA did as far as I know, not surprising considering the large cast and many re-occuring characters.

But more than Caprica? No idea.

The new BSG series takes place during the Cylon War. It won't be ship based.

As bad as the ratings have been, I think the name of the franchise still carries some weight.

If they are clearing Tuesday nights, maybe SGU can move back to Friday?

It likely will be, at least in part. Blood and Chrome is going to focus on Ensign William Adama. Since he was a Viper pilot during the First Cylon War, he'd need to be assigned to a Battlestar and since we know he was assigned to the Galactica during part of the war...

Why won't it be ship-based? Sure, there were ground engagements, but Adama was a Viper pilot and he was based on the Galactica during the war. Since he's the central character, it makes sense that it will be ship based.

As for SGU, it's the most expensive Gate series to date, and the ratings have been steadily declining. On the other hand, there are more episodes on hand (since SyFy ordered a complete second season), so it may be a while before an official decision is handed down. Perhaps SyFy will move it to another night and continue the behind-the-scenes shake-up (by which I mostly mean the departure of Robert C. Cooper).

Caprica had some critical respect, something SGU doesn't and Caprica was also a BSG show so if Caprica can go I can't see SGU lasting much longer. I imagine they'll give it the whole season, though.

Edit: ^You think Cooper was fired?

In the very least, I think Robert C. Cooper saw the writing on the wall. I'm not sure if he was fired, but his statements after it was announced that he would be leaving the series completely after season 2 didn't have any strong explanation for his departure.

Considering he was the only one who could write/direct decent stuff it'd be insane to fire him. Then again these are the idiots who moved the show to Tuesday nights.

If he was fired, that would've been more likely to be a studio decision, rather than a network one.

Probably, though I'm not exactly sure what the relationship between MGM and SyFy is like when it comes to the STARGATE franchise.

BSG: Blood and Chrome isn't a pilot. At most after they webcast they'll re-edit into a feature length format and air it on a Saturday.

Nope, it's now being produced as a back-door pilot. The idea of making it a web series has been dropped--it'll air on television.
